I absolutely loved the GameCube games. Gale of Darkness is still my favourite Pokémon game. I've wanted to imagine Shadow pokémon as a TCG concept for a while, but for a long time all the ideas I had were way too complex (involving purification counters, shadow-only/purified-only attacks and abilities, etc), and would basically change the game completely. Such ideas, in my opinion, do not make for good cards. But recently, I came up with a way to create Shadow pokémon cards in a way that I think represents the concept fairly well, without completely reshaping the TCG rules - basically a balance between faithfulness to the original concept, the TCG, and fun.

The last time I posted cards for a concept, I was told the amount of them could be... overwhelming. So this time, I'm going to post a few at a time rather than all at once. All in all, there are 91 cards. As always, criticism is welcome, and I might change some things around if I agree :)

First off, there's the "Shadow Rule", in the vein of the existing "EX Rule" and "Mega Rule" among others, as well as what it means to Purify a Pokémon:

Shadow Rule: Shadow Pokémon do double damage to non-Shadow Pokémon. When a Shadow Pokémon Knocks Out an opponent's Pokémon, you don't draw any Prizes, but you may Purify the Shadow Pokémon.

Purifying: To Purify a Shadow Pokémon, place the Purified Pokémon on top of the Shadow Pokémon. You may not play Purified Pokémon directly to your Bench or during setup.​

I like the idea, but from where would you play the Purified Basic card? Would it be from the hand, deck, or anywhere?
 
From the hand. If I wanted to let you play it from anywhere else, I'd have to specify. So, you need to actually have the Purified pokémon in your hand when you KO the opponent :)
 
There would, and will, be Shadow Pokémon-EX, and indeed Lugia is there. I've added the full list of cards that will eventually be posted to the first post :)

EDIT: Now that there's a Mega Metagross, I've added one to this list as well.

like the idea but 90 for two energy seems a little overpowered try adding in a colorless need into the purified suicune, entei, and raikou
 
Have to disagree there - I think 90 for two Energy is an acceptable trade-off for the effort you have to make to get a Purified pokémon into play.

By the way the Ability is worded, it stacks, so you can easily get 4 of these in play and all of a sudden your Shadow Pokemon take 80 less damage from attacks. That needs to be nerfed.
 
That is a good point... I've reduced it to 10. They still stack, but 40 points of reduction is more in line with the cost of 4 bench spots.

Although you can still get to 80 if both players have 4 each :)

Hooray for Purified Ampharos!

It would be cool to see a Shadow/Purified Pokemon with some sort of drawing Ability (similar to Claydol GE). That way the Supporters would be a lot easier to use.
 
There's not much draw power with these. All these cards are meant to be somewhat hard to use, that's what justifies them being rather powerful. Ampharos is a good example of this - if you use it right, it can do 60 spread for a total of 360 damage.
