We're going to sticky some key topics each week as you all suggested :thumb:

This is MONDAY. So, leave your suggestions and we'll get right to it!

TOPIC #1 : Deck of the Week

What should be the deck that's up for discussion this week?

If someone could provide a sample decklist (and strategy), that'd be GREAT!

    The goal is two-fold:
    1. To give us all something to talk about!
    2. To offer insight to newer players who have NO IDEA what/why/how a BDIF works so well.

Let's break it down and really discuss how it could work, what it's problems may be, and how to make it consistent.

TOPIC #2: Strategy Discussion of the Week

What ASPECT of playing should we discuss this week?

I think everyone would agree with me that we should probably make our inaugral topic CONSISTENCY!
Without consistency, you don't win nearly enough REGARDLESS of what deck you're running.

However, if you have a better strategy discussion topic, by all means, list it (them) below.
Heck, come to think of it, we could probably have a discussion about WHAT are the aspects of playing strategically!

I'll toss up a Suggestion Box EVERY WEEK and we'll get this thing going

INCENTIVE: The "TOP 15" List is going live after this week. It will be a sticky thread of the our "Top 15" contributors voted by YOU. I'll have the details up when the Top15 thread goes live after this week. It will be based on contributions that you've made THIS WEEK (Mon - Sat).

    I digress....

    1. Deck of the Week
    2. Strategy Aspect of the week

Well conserning strategy aspect of the week, i hope its not like, "hey dude, having this and this makes your strategy better" i think it should be about, What is consistency? How to make a deck more consistant? How to evaluate if my deck is consistent enough or im just playing the cards the wrong way? Its about making player grow as a player not giving them the picture right away, or the cards. There is a wise saying " Dont give them fish, teach them how to catch". With questions like "whats best for you?" "What cards do you fell aren't working as you thought they whould?". ITS ABOUT PLAYER GROWTH. Different metas, different players, different experiences, means LOTS of diferent ideas.

Please dont get me wrong :)

Luxchomp would be a great inaugural deck discussion, as well.

I would really like to see a discussion about a deck based around Luxray AR. With Expert Belt being easily obtainable and with Junk Arm now thrown into the mix this may truly be worth going over again. In the category of the first aspect discussion nothing would be more appropriate than consistency. Without that nothing else matters. It is THE building block for every deck.

Oops, yes, I also agree that Consistency should be first.

While I don't want to get into semantics about the capability for a deck, I think it's important to start the discussion strong, and I think it's very important that we only spend our time focusing on working decks.

If you want to debate the worth of a deck that has not been well-tested, make your own topic. Established archetypes, regardless of tier, are what should be considered for these dedicated threads IMO (and also, IMO, I feel we should start with the decks that are most successful... Luxchomp, Gyarados, etc).

I follow where you're coming from but those decks have been cross sectioned, analyzed, and tweaked to death already. You really think that yet another thread on them is even remotely necessary?

Topic 2: in one of my latest blog entries, I discuss a variety of issues pertaining to the CC season, with one such issue being an examination a win record (31-4). In the main post, I go into gory detail about everything done to get that record over any other (right or wrong, and for better or for worse...I get pretty blunt about my mistakes), but here's one of the "rights" I think would be applicable to consistency...

So moral of the story: consistency begets certainty, which begets a high probability of winning. Normally I crater at Nationals because I somehow wind myself up to turn away from consistency, but ever since I've turned "back" to it, I've been doing much better.

Yes. It IS about player growth and that is why we arrived at making such a topic.

So, you're on the right track :thumb:

We REALLY need to have established decks being dissected and discussed so the forum becomes a learning tool that will enhance everyone's comprehension of consistency and synergy.

However, rogue idea of the week? Yeah. We could do that too!

    Kettler, you're self-promoting. I don't dig that.
I'm exhausting every measure to bring people in and give them a learning/sharing environment.

You're intentions appear to be to steal the traffic that I'm generating/servicing and drive it to your own site/blog.

Not cool man. You see what I'm trying to do here and I thought we were cooler than that.

    Don't jack my forum homie.

    Aside from that...

If you would offer up the opinions without blatent advertisements, you'd immediately enhance the quality of the thread when it goes up. So I do hope you return and contribute.

I suggest Luxchomp. Right now it is the best deck out there and also one of the most popular. Anybody who wants to be competitive has to understand this deck so that they know how to deal with it.

Definitely Rogue Idea of the week.

Stuff can be found so easilly to make rogues. They are also better for discussionj than meta decks imo.
Last year, I tried Honchkrow SV/ Dusknoir DP. BTW, it didn't work. (no Honch X needed for a start). It was fun, and discussion wiht others is a really great way to make a rogue. Look at Beedrill G which has had minor sucess. Masquerain (Barkjon?) etc.

Ok. There are 2 Sticky thread up for this week already :)

    1. The term "Consistency"
    2. LuxChomp discussion/breakdown

The goal is to make these thread SO informative that EVERYONE learns a little something from it whether they're new or veteran tourney players.

I think the deck of the week for discussion should be chenlock. It's a complicated/strong deck that you can't really just look at and understand and I don't think there is any site that has a full explanation of it's strategy. It seems you can't really learn how to succeed against it until it is explained to you or you lose to it a couple of times.
