That's right guys. Team R wants to hold a tournament on the day after Florida regionals.

We want to run a tournament with a set entry fee, cash only, no other prizes, one age division, and for serious playing.

We're trying to gauge interest on:
1. How many people might want to play
2. What kind of entry fee should we do? $10? $20?
3. What kind of structure? Single elimination with best of three matches? Standard swiss? Standard swiss with a top cut? What kind of top cut?

So, anyone going to FL regionals who would be interested in participating in this event should speak their opinions in this thread.

We need to see when/where FL regionals will be before we can pinpoint a location/time/etc.

It might have to be at a library or a game shop in the same city.

I'm game for this.

I say standard swiss, best 2/3.

Make the buy in like $15 and T4 splits the prize like 50-25-15-10 or something like that.

One thing you may need to keep in mind is that this very well may constitute gambling in the US, I'm not sure. Were that the case, you would need to be whatever legal gambling age is in Florida. I really don't have any idea if that's the case or not, though.

Just a thought. *shrug*

tournaments with entry fees are done all the time, except here it's not a store owner or pto running it...SHOULD be fine!

i wish i was going...goooo R

yeah, but how many of those have straight cash prizes?

i really don't have the slightest idea if it's an issue at all, i figured i would just throw it out there.
