Guidelines

The purpose of this forum is for ALL PokéGym members to get HELP with their team and to have a place to discuss the STRATEGY of their team. The forum should be welcoming to BOTH the new player AND the experienced players.

Below are the guidelines for the Team Strategies forum. These guidelines support the above purpose.

These are effective for new posts and replies effective Thursday June 28, 2012. After that date, you should REPORT posts that CLEARLY don't follow these guidelines.

Required!

1. Theme: Topic posts should have a CLEAR theme related to a specific team.
2. Strategy: Topic post must include a summary of what you would like the team to do.Post this at the end of the team.
3. Team Battle Type Topic must include if a team is for Singles, Doubles, Triples or Rotation.
4. Helpful replies: If your reply is NOT helpful, don't press submit!
Prohibited!

1. Bumping: Topic starters may NOT post in their own deck topic more than once per 24 hours unless they are replying to a new post by another member. Spam is not a reply, see below!
2. Spamming: Replies must provide HELP or STRATEGY with a positive tone for the team under discussion. Everything else is SPAM. Ratings and multiple short replies are not help or strategy.
3. Whining: If your team aren't getting attention, don't whine! Read for a while then try again later with a better post.
4. Bashing: If someone or their team is annoying, move along (or report their post), rather than giving them a piece of your mind.
5. Cramming: Only one team per thread is allowed. Having multiples teams and strategies will confuse people and clump up replies. Each individual team should have its own thread.

EXAMPLES

CLEAR TEAM TOPIC

I need help with my 'X' Team for 'Y'.

X being team theme. Trick Room, Rain, Sun, Sand, Gravity, Stall, Power, etc. If you team has no them, then just post team.

Clear Post

A complete topic should look like this. "I need help with my Rain Dance team for Doubles." or "I need help with my team for Singles"

Unclear Post

UNHELPFUL replies

[If you don't have something good to say, don't say anything.]:

Bashing the topic starter their knowledge or experience. If the team is too simple/unfocused for you, and you don't wish to give a lesson or tutorial in team building, pass it by without comment. You are not here to give a whipping to an inexperienced player! If you find someone too much to stand to even see their posts, use the IGNORE feature in your control panel.

Completely changing the person's team or simply evaluating the team as weak in some way without offering patient advice.
If the team is bad and you don't have time to give your view in a nice way “move along… this is not the post you're looking for”.

Bashing or lecturing someone who replied to your post because you don't like their advice. If you asked for help or strategy, don't crack back on someone because you don't like what they give you. Ignore it. If that person is getting under your skin, use the IGNORE feature in your control panel.

Remember, we are here to help players make their team the best it can be. If a player chooses to use a Pidgeot on their team, do not say "there are better Pokemon then that one, it sucks". Your response should be "I'm going to help you make that Pidgeot the best it can be"

Give helpful advice.

SPAMMING and BUMPING

In general, one or two active topics is not SPAMMING the forum. Dumping 5 or 6 topics clearly is. If you're seeing a lot of possibilities, put up a couple ideas, hold the rest.

Another form of spamming is the joke team, in the plain spam or spicy new player bait flavor. See were fun loving folks, but this is the team help forum, not the boredom or inferiority complex help forum. Joke teams will get you a ban.

Examples are a team of 1 Pokemon. Things like a team full of Unown, Mewtwos, etc.

BUMPING is discussed in the guidelines -- don't! If your topics are sinking like a stone, its a sign you need to read more and understand a successful topic before you post again.

Multiple short replies ('thanks...', 'spose that could work') in a day will get your topic locked; this is a bulletin board not a chat room. This has no better effect than to bump your topic. If you are not adding to the discussion of strategy, then stick to PM. In general, post in your topic no more than once a day unless there is a significant and substantial strategy issue that is getting new info from your post.

Asking someone to build you a team is considered SPAM in this forum.

Chiming in with a rating or evaluation like these:

This still loses to <team here>.
This is not a tier 1 team.
This team is a 9 out of 10.

is considered SPAM in a Team Strategies forum.
