Well, after having a nice time at the Sandstorm Prerelease, I got my 9 boosters, opened them up, and I got the Sandstorm version of Mysterious Fossil... Well, um... here's teh text for those of you who dont have it:

Mysterious Fossil- HP 10
Trainer

Play Mysterious Fossil as it if were a Basic Pokemon. While in play, Mysterious Fossil counts as a (Colorless icon) Pokemon (instead of a Trainer card). Mysterious Fossil has no attacks of its own, can't retreat, and can't be afftected by any Special Conditions. If Mysterious Fossil is Knocked Out, it doesn't count as a Knocked Out Pokemon. (Discard it anyway.) At any time during your turn before your attack, you may discard Mysterious Fossil from play.

Now here's the Fossil/LC version:

Mysterious Fossil- 10 HP
Trainer

Play Mysterious Fossil as if it were a Basic Pokemon. While in play, Mysterious Fossil counts as a Pokemon (instead of a Trainer card). Mysterious Fossil has no attacks, can't retreat, and can't be Asleep, Confused, Paralyzed, or Poisoned. If Mysterious Fossil is Knocked Out, it doesn't count as a Knocked Out Pokemon. (Discard it anyway.) At any time during your turn before your attack, you may discard Mysterious Fossil from play.

Well, here's the pitch. Same picture, same HP, same actions, but different text and a different way of showing HP. it's a close game where the Positives are winning 3-2. What's the verdict judges?

My virdict: Doesn't make much difference. If some in-game effect does things to colorless Pokemon, then Mysterious Fossil counts this time, wheras before it had no type.

Of course the new wording overrules the old one, so it's not a huge issue anyway. Heck, it doesn't even matter for Chain Lightning or Unown N.
