I guess it's time to add my store support rant.

If you are lucky enough to have a store nearby where you play Pokemon then you owe it to that store to buy your Pokemon cards there. You may can save a few bucks and you may can get your cards early by buying them from Target, online, etc. But you are doing your local store a great disservice by doing so. If you don't support your local store by buying your cards where you play then one day soon you will find that you no longer have a place to play the game.

Very well said Dave.

Folks,Dave brings up a good point.Always support your local gaming store. This doesn`t mean you have to buy everything from them.I can understand getting things cheaper elsewhere. After all,who wouldn`t want to save money? But what we do suggest is buy some product from your gaming store whenever possible. If it wasn`t for your gaming store, where would you play? You can thank them for having a place where you can go to meet friends, enjoy a game, etc. by buying from them.

Gaming stores are not an easy way to make money and alot of them barely get by.If we always buy elsewhere,it`ll be as Dave said...one day you won`t have a place to play the game. And for people who travel to an event, thank that place for making it possible for you to come and have a great time by buying something from them.Doesn`t have to be a big purchase, just a little something to return a favor.:)

Hello all,

I received some guidance today from PUI this afternoon in regards to PTO/TO selling product at the Pre Release Events......

Current rules require that players can only get extra prerelease cards by entering an event or winning a prize.

Here are some excerpts from the email..

...All side events need to be Pokémon TCG or Pokémon GBA tournaments,
and you should try as hard as possible to make them sanctionable

To maximize the amount of product a player could get for playing in a side event, you could
hold a booster draft or side sealed booster event, ........

I hope this helps to address this subject....

Amen Sensei and Advisor,

...One day you won't have a place to play.... welcome to the UK guys. Store based play died out in the UK years ago.

Its only us mad fools with our minimal cost highly targeted operations that are left. None of which generate enough cash to actually pay a living wage. So support your local shop/league and maintain those all important places to play.

UK population is approximately 1/4 that of the USA. Yet I estimate that we have only 1/20 of the player base that the USA has. Why? Because there are so few places to play.

I will be holding a GBA side event at my Prerelease, which PUI has already okayed.

You know, I'm slightly amused. With the last two sets, Target - as a company - has released early and (as far as we know) nothing has been done about it.

But loyal small town card shops who actually support the company with the events and such... they suddenly get told that no, they can't sell *any* product early - at all.... even for special events that have the purpose of getting the product out early.

Man, I don't know about you guys, but if I ran a card/hobby shop and I find out any Target store starts selling Aqua/Magma early, I'd be completly ticked off...

Aaaaaahhhh yes!
Support your local stores! Thats only going to work if your child doesn't spot them early at Target. At my Target the gaming cards, mags ect are right next to the check-outs. After Target started selling Sandstorm early they looked for Dragon early also. LOW AND BEHOLD they did. Kinda hard to tell an excited kid "No, can't buy them until their offical release date". Their friends ran to the store and got them so why couldn't they? I gave in and bought them a pack each. They took them to their league that night thinking they would be the first to have them and were not. Most all did. the store running the league didn't even have the cards yet! I bought a booster box from them later but they still missed out!

Walmart, Target ect can't sell movie releases early. Why is it so hard for them to honor a release date?

Why not just boycott Target altogether, then? If Target releases early again, spread the word at leages and such to not shop there. At all. Especially to parents, explaining the part about no place to play and how it leaves that whole investment in cards unused.

Will it work? I dunno. But complaining about it on a message board won't accomplish much, if anything.
