Thieves caught on video at Worlds, TPCi does nothing

I cant believe that Pokemon did not so anything about this. There is clear evidence that the person in question committed the crime. I have kids in Juniors and Seniors and I would not like to put them in the kind of environment where they would have to watch everything they own 100% of the time. If you are going to allow thievery....what else are you going to allow. There is a lot worse out there, but this is pretty out there. Where do you draw the line? In my opinion, I have always liked the person in question but I think there should be some kind of ban on the player. I know it deters me from bringing anything worth value to future tournaments.

Yeah but if was voice overs and it just so happened he got Dan and Dave on cam as a joke, that means absolutely nothing.
Because they probably didn't know that was going on.

Sending a warning letter (of which only a select few know the content contained with in that warning letter) does not mean that TCPI acknowledges that the theft happened for a fact and that they are taking a "laid back" action to this situation.

This warning could be for the fact that this whole situation over all that members of the Pokemon community does not like or need ANY sort of negative reflection by behavior or acts that represent the community in a bad image by the members. As with any group or community, just the level of everything negative surrounding this issue is not healthy for anyone. TCPI has based what action to take on this for the mean time with what they have to work with.

This incident is ugly all around, and those who can do what they can to rectify this are doing exactly that: what they can with what they have to work with.
Because this incident is ugly all around, it has left a sour taste in everyone's mouth that is a victim, a community member, a staff person, a TO, and the image of a company that isn't 100% perfect- but everyone besides the thief is left with a hard time trying to prevent this from being a continued threat to our community.

I say we start providing ideas/suggestions on what should warrant a warning onto a ban or something that is productive with prevention.

Example:
If a member is aware of a theft at an event, yet fails to turn in the thief, and it is found out later on that that person did know- they should get a 3 month ban.

IDEA-- ^ right there. Just that, an idea.
Deosn't mean that TCPI will acpt that idea, but it is an effort to keep our community a community.

This is OUR community, right? We should be able to speak up, present an issue in a good tone, discuss, be heard, and be a part of resolving and WORKING together as to what we want and do not want in our community.

just thoughts is all............................................

Example:
If a member is aware of a theft at an event, yet fails to turn in the thief, and it is found out later on that that person did know- they should get a 3 month ban.

This would be incredibly hard to prove. Also this could cause others accuse others of false claims of theft just so they don't get banned.
Like "I might have saw x take cards from the table" and it might have been a trade or whatever.

I have kids in Juniors and Seniors and I would not like to put them in the kind of environment where they would have to watch everything they own 100% of the time.

Sorry to say but you have to watch everything you own 100% percent of the time of it may come up missing if it leaves your home.

Being that you claiim Gino was in a video with Dave, and there might be favortism, also does not prove he stole the macbook.

However there is enough evidence that Gino did take something as he did get a warning letter (as well as Jon did),
as per Mees post. So the "favoritism for Gino theory" doesn't really work out.

I mean if this thread is "where is mees macbook" would make a lot more sense other then "why weren't these people banned".
So are you saying stealing is ok if it's under a certain US dollar\Can. dollar\Euro amount? Because that's what a lot of people feel these warnings are saying. While I believe the punishment should fit the crime, I also think punishments are suppose to serve as a deterrent to commit the crime, and the warning letters aren't enough of a deterrent. A lot of people think stealing (of any value) should start at a ban compared to the past punishments. Otherwise, what happens the next time they steal something? Double secret probation?

Sorry to say but you have to watch everything you own 100% percent of the time of it may come up missing if it leaves your home.
Since you said you learned this lesson, how many times did it happen to you and at what ages? Easier said than done. What happens if you drop some cards under the table and look away to pick them up (can't reach the cards with your feet)? There's plenty of moments of distractions for juniors and masters alike.

"For What It's Worth"

There's something happening here
But what it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware

I think it's time we stop
Children, what's that sound?
Everybody look - what's going down?

There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking' their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind

It's time we stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look - what's going down?

What a field day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly saying, "hooray for our side"

It's time we stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look - what's going down?

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
Step out of line, the men come and take you away

We better stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look - what's going down?

For whats its worth... has anything really gone unsaid?

You take this out of context. If I'm in a game, there are judges watching and other players/ people around that can watch my deck while I look away for a few seconds to pick up a dropped card. In those split seconds, I would notice a player messing with my deck. I can also call over a judge to pick up the dropped card and take any infractions due to it, if any. I had a Yugioh deck worth over 600 bucks stolen and my first draft of my chaos legends deck stolen as well. I've also had a hand full of cards taken from my binder and and whole binder stolen. Sure I was mad and looked for help but there was none, well no helpful help. I then realized it was my fault for being lulled into this false sense that the Pokemon community is completely safe. I've had more cards stolen from me in Pokemon events. I can name 8 different times cards well stolen from me at Pokemon related events and only 1 at Yugioh.

There is no excuse for anyone to leave their belonging unattended unless its around people you can trust your life with. For me, thats a few people. Because I leave my stuff with trusted people or take it with me, I have no longer had anything stolen. Distractions happen and in most cases, you cant prevent it but if something drags you away from your things, have someone you trust to watch it. Its as simple as that. last year, I left a deckbox of Emerald energy, over 40 on a table. I though it was gone for good but a friend of mine noted me that I left it unattended and it was returned.

So, what Pokemon players need to do is let go of this illusion that Pokemon is a completely safe game. its not. Its more safe then most games but in any competitive game, if something of value is left unattended and someone sees it, they may take it.

SmeargleMe - I have said many times in this thread "stealing does not condone stealing" and "stealing is still stealing."
However MOST people in this thread are going after the macbook controversy since the cards were returned, and therefore there's proof behind it.
