Is there a general consensus regarding what the 'top' Pokemon movies(released in english) are ?

I have only seen the first 3, but would be interested to see how they stack up against the rest of the Pokemon movies that have been released.

Please give a few reasons why you picked a certain movie, I dont want this to turn into a poll.

8 and 10 are pretty good, though I liked 2 as well. The new one looks awsome, I'd say I'll be on the list.

its hard to say the 3rd best, you could make arguments that all the movies shared 3rd place with the exception of the 3rd movie which seemed to kind of be the worst of all the movies imo.

To me here is my list and why.
1.Pokemon Lucario and the mystery of Mew!
Wow where do start with this.
Great lead Pokemon that you just wanna run up and hug (Lucario)
Plot is one of the best out tof the movies.
Animation is amazing with some of the best 3d use ever out of the movie in my say.
I don't know what else to say!
I mean there is not really any bad guys....(Team Rocket does not count! They are not even evil any more! Just dumb crooks)

    2.Pokemon 2000
Ok now it has a villein that looks at things like a game of chess.
    A Plot with a legend.
Slow Start-Faster Middle and fast moving ending.
One of the best qoutes from all the Pokemon movie "I need pants."!

    3.Pokemon Heros
It has all of the making of a good movie.
Bad villeins tah are sorta bad.
Romance (Even if we don't know who it was)
A plot that was in depth.
    Great extended theme song!

Although this seems like a poll, it is an interesting discussion topic

My personal TOP 3 are as follows

    1. Wishmaker

My reasoning is pretty simple. My 2 favorite characters from the Pokemon universe are Jirachi and Max. This movie allowed a sub-character (Max) to play a major part. The drama is kinda corny, but good, as is the action.

    2. Lucario

This movie was the first I saw in Japan, and when it came to America, there was no changes except for 2 songs. Dialogue was spot on, and the story of Aaron and Lucario was very thought out. Plus, the Pikachu jester costume was Kawaii!!!

    3. This one is a split for 2 movies - Entei Lord of the Unown Tower, and Pokemon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea Manaphy.

These 2 movies are tied for the storyline and comedic value. The way that the Unown acted to Molly's "wishes" and the may Manaphy was when he was with May were both funny, and at the same time sad. The storyline was awesome for both of these movies, with both of the "minor" characters (May and Molly) to act as roles they were not (Molly as a Pokemon Trainer/Gym Leader, and May as a mother)

Those are my top 3/4 movies

I beleive I have seen almost all of them, I know I have missed a few, while I am not sure I can name my favorite 3, I can name my favorite so far. I really enjoyed the storyline in Pokemon Forever. I like the ending and how it all tied together. As far as storylines go, it was definantely the best one IMO.

Hmnn well I haven't seen all of the movies, but the latest ones have been getting better. My top two would definitely be:

    1. Lucario and the Mystery of Mew- This one just didn't feel like the other movies, and I suppose that's why it sticks out in my mind as the best. Seeing pokemon dressed in armor and battling in the middle ages was really fun to watch.

    2. The Rise of Darkrai- Was almost a typical japanese monster movie along the lines of Destiny Deoxys, but Darkrai is not a huge, slobbering beast of a pokemon that wants to destroy everything. It makes for a nifty viewing.

    3. ??- I might go with Pkmn Ranger, but I have only seen a few parts. While Pokemon Heroes wasn't too bad, I just didn't like the whole "Defense System of Altomare" plot. the villain from Pokemon 2000 was way too polite to be entertaining, which is sad because I really liked the legendary birds. And what's the deal with that ending? He picks up his ancient mew card and says "so it shall begin again?" What's he going to do? Collect pokemon in a nicer way? And moltres gets to hang out in a sweet electrical force ring! My pokemon sit in a pc and rot away, never breathing the air of the fields or feeling the wind of the sky again.

1st two movies- Pokemon fighting and trapping is bad
1st two movies- Pokemon battling and catching is ok.

Doesn't this belong in the anime forum?

Anyways, I stopped watching after the Deoxys one, so I can't speak for Lucario/Manaphy/Darkrai/I'm probably missing something.
But from the first movie to the Deoxys one, the movies got progressively worse every time. The first and second movies were by far the best. The third was decent. After that, it all started to go downhill.
