Also Serebii, this is at the same time as your states? =/ we tried to plan it after states before regionals so it didn't conflict with anything

Just to note, at the last TMB, there was a three way tie for second place between Jason, Jimmy and myself, just a month or two before we took 1st, 4th, and top8 at worlds 08.

Tropical Mega Battle Update!

Players will be able to choose to play up into higher age divisions. opposite the original plan. this will allow us to accomidate the large number of players more easilly without having to split the floor space in three. Also, this will allow larger prize payouts for first second and third place. However, this will also create a much more competative air. Don't underestimate the seniors! Keep an eye on this thread to stay posted with the TMB3 and thanks for your interest :D

No cash prizes have been anounced, and probably won't be, sorry.

BTW, shut up Drew! I wasn't listed in that list or invited to the TMB 2 either, but you don't hear me complaining about it! But, we hope you can come and have a good time at this one though!
 
I'll go IF everyone throws in like $10 for my airfare! Sounds like fun, I wish it weren't 3,000 miles from me!
 
Actually, the idea of potential cash prizes is on the table still. We're looking into legalities, whether Pokemon counts as a game of skill, or a game of chance (gambling), and if we'd have to worry about waivers/permission slips and such. It's a possibility, we'll just split the cash we get from registration and divvy it up as prize money.


And, not sure if it's a repost, the TMB shirts are looking to be AWESOME. :smile:

We're also seeing what we can do to make it more than just a one day event, to attract more travelers, but keep the cost down. Maybe a buy-your-own-pack booster draft,k and definitely some peanut-butter-&-pineapple sandwich making parties :)

We also know a trophy will be one of the new, awesome tropical-themed pokemon stuffed toys japan recently came out with :lol:


and, scizor, i'll do more than just $10, i'll pay your registration fee if you come to NJ! :cool:
 
It doesn't even have to be cash. But even though I'm 90% sure I'm going no matter what I'd still like to be playing for something other than packs. If cash isn't an option (which is understandable) you could have a prize pool type setup like magic. Like have some good lv x's or playsets of Uxie/Claydol. I would love to play for a chance at some really good cards.
 
Slayer, that card pool prize is a really good idea. Like i said, we're still planning this thing. What we know as of right now is that it IS happening. I can promise you prizes aren't just packs though. I know for a fact we'll have a prize bag with like that plush and some other fun things in it. Something worthy of travelling for (other than the experience.) We want to get as many people out here as we can.

This thread is not just an announcement, but a place for suggestions, comments and concerns. I'd love to hear any more ideas that you think would make people want to travel/make you want to come, however i ask you to be realistic. These things take a lot of planning and i don't want this thread to fill up with people saying they'll come if they all get a box.
 
In between every round, there should be random prizes. like maybe for rounds one and two 2 people get a free TMB3 tshirt and for the other rounds the prize could be like extra prerelease sleeves and stuff like that.

great idea! I love tournaments that do raffles in between the rounds :)
