This is not an announcement or anything, but more of a possible and a "what if?".

The idea of an UNLIMITED tournament came out of a discussion we were having at league this week. Firstly, our league has several players who love building decks. Whether they win or not, every week sees a new deck. Also, with the new Cleveland League, we have started to get more new players. Some of these players have older cards and some don't. There is another new players who has access to lots of older cards and he said he would be willing to work with getting some for us.

Here are the goals we would like to accomplish:
1. Grow the game in Chattanooga - This could be accomplished by both word of mouth and some good advertising
2. Have a chance to play with completely different decks in a competative environment
3. Draw in former players as well as new players - This also ties into #1
4. Provide some form of Unlimited play for ALL players - This means getting some travelers

Now, here are the questions I would like to know. Should there be any bans? The old Sneasel/Slowking standby is a given, but Sneasel probably wouldn't have as big of an impact anymore. I'm sure there are some potentially devastating combos that could dominate the format, but there is no real playtesting to know (this is another thing this tourney could accomplish). What should be the entry fee? We are looking at 3-5$, but if the event is big enough (ie prizes), I could see pushing it to 10$. That leads into the prizes. We know a guy who can get us cheap packs and we've bought spray-paint t-shirts before and could do it again. Is this enough? Should we offer cash prizes to draw in serious players? What about dice, trophies, etc? Again all this would be nice, but would it fit with an unlimited event and draw in players? Also, we talked about side drafts like mutant. Would this help or hurt attendance at an unlimited tourney? Finally, what should be the timing of this event? We were thinking about after Nats, but I could see an open date during Battle Roads being an option.

Wow, this has been a long post, but we are looking at growing our area. Now I NEED feedback from YOU All. I would love to hear what the community thinks about this and get some help on the logistics of trying to run such a rare tournament - An UNLIMITED Pokémon Tournament!
