Deck: Steelix Tank w/ awesome techs
Division: Seniors
Hi everyone, this is my first BR report. I am awful at remembering names so I apologize beforehand if I can't remember. :/ Well, I have been using a Steelix Tank deck for about a month and it has been running really smoothly. We arrived at Seth's Game and Anime store about 5 minutes before BRs were about to begin. I quickly traded for another Nidoqueen and my deck was complete just in time. There were a lot of Juniors and Masters this time, and I was happy to note that we had gained more Seniors. (Last BRs there were only 2 Seniors and we had to join the Masters division :/ and we got crushed) Pairings were posted and we began...
Round 1 - vs. Christopher ?. w/ Luxchomp
Person Analysis-
This kid was one of those 'reachy' people. Whenever he dropped a bat or delt damage he would quickly grab a dice and put it onto my pokemon before I could even move. Just a tip to all players: THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING
Game-
We filpped the coin and it was decided that I was to go first. We flipped our actives when the match started, and I wasn't to surprised to find myself facing a Garchomp C. :nonono:
I got a pretty decent start, managed a T1 Skarmory w/ a metal energy and an Onix benched and started charging. He draws, then plays literally 3 SP radars to get out a Luxray and 2 Bats. Drops a Bat on Onix and says pass. I draw, evolve into Steelix, (EAT THAT GARCHOMP!!) attach DCE to Steelix, play down a Chansey, and then use Skarmory to continue charging Steelix. He draws, attaches DCE his Chomp, levels-us, attaches energy gain, drops a Bat on my Steelix, and uses Dragon Rush on my Steelix (Of course, Spe. Metals reduce the damage by 20 but 'Reachy' has to reach over and check for himself :smile I draw, retreat Skarmory via Unown Q, belt Steelix and Energy Stream for 50. He draws, retreats for free and brings up a crobat, drops another Chomp down on the bench, and passes. I draw, attach basic metal to Steelix and GIA CRUSH FOR 120!! It almost looked like I might pull through when he got out a double ChompX set-up and KO'd my Steelix :/ After that, he just made sure to snipe everything I played down on my bench and proceeded to win :nonono:. GG anyways
0-1
Wow, after that tense game I just chilled waiting for my next game.
Round 2 - vs. Jason A. w/ Tyrannitar
Person Analysis:
I really felt bad for this kid. He was 100% new to the game and had no clue what he was doing. Unfortunatly he had bought a couple packs and then had put all of his cards into his deck. nonono: but :lol He got a round loss and I got a free win. I helped him to remake his deck to what it was when he started so that he wasn't disqualified.
1-1
Well, since I got a free win I just played a fun game vs. a Master who had finished early. The game was just getting good when time was called and the next pairings were up.
Round 3 - vs. ???? w/ Eeveelutions/ESL
Person Analysis:
I really felt bad for this kid too. He was obviously fresh from the Juniors division, and I had watched him get creamed by Luxchomp so I knew what his deck was.
Game:
I started with a Scyther and he started with an Eevee. I draw into my Skarmory T1, retreat Scyther for free, drop an Onix on the bench, attach energy to Skarmory, and begin to charge Steelix. He draws, plays down an Entei/Suicune Legend and attaches :fire: energy to it, and uses Eevee's attack that lets him search his deck for up to 2 evolutions of Eevee but all of them (I don't know how many he runs) are prized. I draw, attach DCE to Steelix, attach Belt to Steelix, use a Warp Point to drag up ESL while I bring up my Steelix and attack with Energy Stream for 50 damage. He draws, attaches :water: energy to ESL, and passes. I draw, drop a Chansey on the bench, use a Pokemon Communication for a Scizor and evolve, attach a Spe. Metal to Steelix, use a Warp Point (WP is AWESOME) to drag up his benched Eevee while I bring up Skarmory and retreat for free to bring back out Steelix, and I Energy Stream for the KO. He draws, attaches :fire: energy to his ESL, and uses Burning Inferno for 140 (80x2-20) which my Steelix survives barely. I draw, seeing how my Steelix is a goner I don't bother using Nurse Call on it, I use a Lucian's to move all energy on my crippled Steelix to my Scizor, I attach DCE to Steelix and use Energy Stream for another 50. He draws, and now seeing Scizor as the biggest threat he uses Turrent Blade for 80 damage. (100-20) I draw, attach DCE to Steelix and retreat for 4 energys and I bring up Scizor. I use Nurse Call on my Scizor, drop down a Nidoran->Nidoqueen via Rare Candy, and I use Metal Scizzors for the KO. GG (wow, I was able to remember the entire game!)
2-1
A Master who was watching my last game wanted to battle me, so we played out a quick game until pairings went up. It was announced that Seniors would be playing Masters in the last round. :nonono:
Round 4 - vs. Jason M. w/ Straight Vileplume
Person Analysis:
This guy wasn't doing so well in the tournament, and I could tell that he had already mentally admitted defeat.
Game:
I get a perfect start and proceed to crush him. I was worried about him possibly running VileGar. He gets a double Oddish start, attaches energy to Oddish and attacks. I start, attach and energy to Skarmory and start charging Steelix. I forget most of this game, but I do remember him getting out a Vileplume with 3 energys on it while I got my Steelix out with 4 Spe. Metals and a DCE. I also get a Queen and a Blissey on the bench. I 2HKO his Vileplume. I asked him if he runs Gengar in his deck, and he says no. He brings up an Uxie and passes. I draw, and belt Steelix. I had no hand (for fear of Poltergeist) and for the rest of the game, discarded what ever I drew for my turn to fuel Nurse Call and proceeded to tank through his deck. I remember him getting out another Vileplume, but doesn't get enough energy on it so I just Gia Crush it for the KO. He scoops, GG
3-1
Well we didn't have enough Seniors to do a top cut, so I just hung around while the judges calculated the rankings on their laptop. Christopher from my first match won the Victory Medal and 4 packs for going 4-0, I got 2nd winning 4 packs, and Jason and ???? each got 2 packs. I didn't really get to try out my Steelix deck though :frown:, since I lost to Luxchomp, got a free win, then destroyed an easy Senior and an easy Master.
Pros:
Getting 2nd at BRs
Using Steelix and doing well
Getting 4 free packs
Actually remembering a lot of my matches
Cons:
Not winning the Victory Medal
Losing to Luxchomp
Not drawing ANY Primes or Legend pieces from my packs :frown:
Thanks for reading, and please tell me how my report was! :thumb:
