weakly custom avatar days!?

I think the reason that avatar days are so infrequent is because when we have one, the mods have to go through the process of checking everyone's custom avatars to make sure they're appropriate. That's probably quite tedious and time-consuming, hence why they don't want to do an avatar day every week or every month.
 
Its the users like croation nidoking and magic umbreon who wouldnt change they're avvys. But everyone else would.

I've been trying for so long to figure out how to get a custom one, and now I know -_-
 
i know how about we stop whineing hmm this is a pokemon fourm so what should most peoples avatars be i know pokemon

I think BT has the winning post for this topic so far.

1) This board IS PG in most parts and pushes PG-13 in others (but rarely). Because of this, avis have to be modded as well. And that's kinda a **** for the mods, I'm sure.

2) Most boards only offer custom avis to contest winners and their ilk. The fact that we've all been given the chance at some point and not a random, elite few makes me very happy and proud ot be a member of a board that is welcoming everyone.

3) We could have no custom avis at all. The mods are at least nice enough to allow us customizations every once and a while, and mine probably won't change, b/c Culex is just awesome.

So,t ehre's my mini-rant. Butcher it as you may.

Crap. Just watched the new Gurren-Lagann. Gotta make Simon-shades Pikachu now. :D Which is sort of disappointing since I put so much effort into the first one, but on the other hand it is too cool not to.

Just out of interest, how many avatars on the last avatar day weren't appropriate?

I don't know, and neither does anyone but the mods, I'm sure.
Obviously, the point you were subtly trying to make with that question was that there weren't very many, but you don't know that for a fact. For all we know, a good portion of the users that uploaded custom avatars could've tried to upload inappropriate ones.

Frankly, in matters such as these, even if only one person does it, there's a problem.
Here's a totally hypothetical situation.
Let's say the mods did not go through the process of checking all custom avatar uploads. One person uploaded something inappropriate. One kid saw it. That kid's parents, who happen to command a great level of respect in the Pokemon community, were looking over his shoulder.
And just like that, PokeGym's credibility is down.

It is because of this possibility that the mods must screen the custom avatars, and it is because the mods must screen the custom avatars that we do not have frequent avatar days.
