No no, not really...

But if we ever do have another one, I wouldn't mind changing my avatar to either Gendo with Kamina's glasses or Black Getter...

...or Deneb candy, but that's obvious seeing that Deneb is awesome...

Obviously, the point you were subtly trying to make with that question was that there weren't very many, but you don't know that for a fact. For all we know, a good portion of the users that uploaded custom avatars could've tried to upload inappropriate ones.

Frankly, in matters such as these, even if only one person does it, there's a problem.
Here's a totally hypothetical situation.
Let's say the mods did not go through the process of checking all custom avatar uploads. One person uploaded something inappropriate. One kid saw it. That kid's parents, who happen to command a great level of respect in the Pokemon community, were looking over his shoulder.
And just like that, PokeGym's credibility is down.

It is because of this possibility that the mods must screen the custom avatars, and it is because the mods must screen the custom avatars that we do not have frequent avatar days.

Ok say we've established that they do check the avatars before/right when they're put on the site. Well a little while ago I uploaded my profile picture which just happened to be a pic of Azure Kite from .hack. I'm sure I could find some pretty inapropriate pictures on the site I got the pic from if I searched hard enough. So whats to stop other people from doing that with they're profile pics too? My friend I'm afraid worrying about something like that happening is pointless because hopefully the mods would check it before someone saw it but your story could still happen even though its a slim possibility. If something like that is going to happen it might have already and if not it can still. I understand your thinking but theres already a chance of something like that happening with profile pictures and more frequent custom avatar days will barely if at all change the risk of something along the lines of your story happening even if it is pretty farfetched.(no fun intended) I'm not saying the mods don't do a good job I'm saying there are only so many mods and people can only do so well.

There's a HUGE difference between avatars and profile pictures.
Profile pictures are very seldom seen, and chances are that when someone sees them first it won't be a little kid. They report it to the mods, no problem. The situation I described in my last post is possible, but much less likely.
Avatars are seen by anyone that looks at a thread containing any of your post.

In short;
Avatars matter. Profile pictures don't.
 
i think only BT should be allowed to update his avatar, and only so he can put more elemental legacy pokemon in his avatar :thumb:

Ok ok sorry I'm still a bit of a newbie here! You know I only recently found out if I click on this quote button then I can automatically quote it without having to copy the post? Yes I'm not exactly a genius like most. But it could still happen....

I hate to break it to you man, but that ain't exactly genius level material (seeing as there's a nice, pretty button that says "Quote"). As a side note, using "like most" in that context with "genius" doesn't make sense.

I just want to point out that the last time there was Custom Avatars I found it COMPLETLEY by chance (I wasn't even aware that it was so limited) >_>


Just started updating my info and BAM! woke up without my kidney
 
I'd like to see custom avatars twice a year... I couldn't get on during the last one... They should also be pre-announced to people know the next time they can actually give themselves a new avatar. It gets boring having the same avatar for years without end, and if you want to change it right now you need to wait even longer or go with one of the random pokemon avatars that nobody uses if they can help it.
 
Well, I'm slightly confused. When there is one, how do people know? Is it announced as an update on the home page? Or do you just have to be randomly updating your profile one day and it says you can?
 
Last time, there was a big forum announcement about it, and it was announced a solid while beforehand. If I remember right, we were given at least a week, since I took about that long to draw Marril and learn Photoshop well enough to colour her.
