!!!Reminder!!!

What's better than a Custom Avatar Day? A Custom Avatar Weekend! In honor of Prime & P_A's birthdays, from Friday, October 3rd, 9PM PDT to Sunday, October 5th 9PM PDT, members will be able to upload a custom avatar.

New members may be unable to upload an avatar, as well as members who have misused the custom avatar privilege previously or who have 30 or more infraction points from the last 6 months, and all avatars must follow the requirements in this FAQ entry.

Avatars must be obviously Pokemon-themed, and may not have any writing (the only exceptions are your exact screen name or a Pokemon logo) nor photographs of people in them.
Avatars should also look good, not be distracting, and not have fast animations.

The maximum size of custom avatars has also been changed to 100 by 100 pixels or 24.5 KB (whichever is smaller).

Staff will not confirm that your avatar meets the requirements ahead of time.

Here's an example:

There will be another avatar contest, winners will be decided by the members this time. Anyone who uploads their own new custom avatar will be eligible, as long as that avatar meets the requirements.

To vote on which avatar you think should win the contest, rate one and only one avatar with a 5 in the gallery. Sock puppets used in the contest votes will be banned and those votes invalidated, rating multiple avatars will invalidate all votes for that member, PMing bulbasnore to fix it when you rate multiple avatars will be a 7 day ban (no infraction)

ALSO.....

Welcome to another level in PokeGym history! We are updating our reference system with a new way of leaving references for members who you have made trades, sales or purchases with. This new system is fairly simple as it is very similar to Ebay's feedback system.

You don't have to go back and record your old trades in the new system, but we encourage you to do so. The old trader refs list will remain locked and stickied for a year or so, during the transition. You aren't required to use this new system to record your references for others, but wouldn't you feel great to see your number under your avatar grow, to the point of being past the point that you will be allowed to sell here on the gym? How do you think your traders would feel about that? We're sure they'd like it too. If you find that people you've traded with haven't updated you on the new itrader system, you can give them a polite private message asking them if they'd like to check out the new iTrader system, and give you a ref while they are there.

Here is how it will work:

1. You both need to have the deal posted on one of your trading/selling/buying threads and to leave a reference you need to copy the url from the thread it was made on. Trades done over PMs need to be posted on either members thread for it to count.

2. Click the number beside "iTrader" , example : iTrader: (0) , located under the user's avatar and it will take you to that member's references.

3. Select Submit Feedback for this member.

4. You need to then paste the thread url to where the deal was made into the space provided. If you don't put a deal url in it will not submit the reference.

5. Choose from the drop down if you were the:

A. trader
B. buyer
C. seller

6. You must then leave a short quote of how your trade/sale/purchase went.

7. You must leave a complete reply to how your trade/sale/purchase was and if you where happy or disappointed with the trade/sale/purchase in the larger comment box. It doesn't have to be a paragraph, but a short note is necessary.

8. Finally submit it and you have left a reference for the person you just dealt with.

So as you can see it is a fairly simple process.

9. If you notice abuse of the system, profanity, or unnecessary rudeness in a ref, you can (and should!) report it using the triangular report button, the same as posts.

10. If you happen to get a bad ref, and you disagree with the assessment, you can appeal to the mods about this by reporting the ref.

We will be locking the current "Da'Gym's rules & Good/Bad Traders List" thread which was used for displaying the current refs and rules of the site and leave it there for a determined period of time. After a while we will allow that thread to dwindle into the pages of the trading forum once everyone has converted over to the new system.

iTrader will go up Friday October 10th.

Don't forget that an all new pokemon episode will be on this weekend, check your local listings and that Battle Roads, are still going on till Oct. 12th. Have a great weekend and enjoy the weather out there!

Awesome, this will be a lot of fun. The trading thing is great for people that trade.

I'll be working on a new avatar. Glad the limits have been increased a tad.

Sounds like bulbasnore was heavily hinting towards this... bulbasnore, if you're reading, I think part of it may be lack of interest? I know I don't care much for custom avatar days, and I won't care about iTrader until 10/10/2008. I knew about the Mewtwo X and the Stormfront information before this was released, as well as the BR thread.

At least for me, the Weekly News Update is a review of things I already knew...

"You're missing something big" - yeah the part where someone stole my avatar when I wasn't lookin'! :nonono: LOL.

^^ I personaly think that the updates are useful; not everyone is current, and most 'gym related things are solely anounced through here.

Understandable. I never had any use for them either, because I had already seen everything in them.
But there are probably a lot of people who don't read as many of the threads, and for them a way to see what the important threads were without having to look through all of PokeGym would be quite useful.

And hence the first four words of that sentence. I personally think its a good idea and wouldn't mind helping compile those in the future...

Thanks for understanding and not jumping down my throat though.
