What happened in the UK

The TFG has been out a long time here in the UK.
Basically, it bombed.
I've listed some reasons why I think this happened, most of which seem to have been sorted for the U.S. release.

1. Price
We were paying about 4 times the U.S. prices - sorted.
2. Packaging
Apart from the starter sets, all figures were sealed from view - sorted.
The booster packs did not have the spinner bases in - sorted (I think).
Trainer cards were impossible to obtain, apart from in starter packs - sorted (I think).
3. Broken Figures
Some figures break extremely easily, many while still in their packaging - not sorted, as far as I can tell, but at least you'll be able to see if they're broken.
4. The Game
To be fair, it's not a bad game.
The problem is it doesn't FEEL like a Pokemon game.
No levelling up, no evolutions, types are not used at all, the way Poison and Paralysis apply just doesn't make sense and neither does the Pokemon Centre.

The figures are, on the whole, gorgeous.
IMHO - one for collectors more than players.

Totally agree. The minute I looked at them eariler this year I thought that they looked cute, but they just wern't my sort of thing. I'm willing to wager there will be the same sort of feeling in the US in 6 months time.

Yeah... I'm not that keen on the game either to be honest. I have a couple of figures, but only because I won them at the tournament yesterday. John has been trying to sell them for ages, and at the shop near me, they cost 8x the amount in the US.

Also, the breakingness is teh sucks.

If they were as much as they were when they were released in Australia? Too much, when you consider that you were getting random assortments.

£9 for each two figure booster locally but that was still far too much wonga.

I think that the fact that you didn't know what you were going to get worked against them too. £9 for a box when you don't know what you will get put me off, and I doubt I'm alone.

So PRICE, PRICE, PRICE, and secret contents.
