this thread has become discussion about australias op and such.
oh and btw sorry for the late reply.
got banned for 2 days :s

edit: lol @ shawofmordor.

Actually I agree with just about all of this.

In defense of team M, you really should separate mock bravado and stuff that is meant to be spoof, from people being genuinely big-headed. Usually it's posted in people’s reports etc. to back each other up and generally promote comradely – not to do down others.

Now on the other hand things like the Claydol ex at US nationals is sad and wrong, I might well keep good information to myself, but deliberately mis-leading others is pretty low :(

Your points about individuals small minded bickering about pointless issues is very true. In the UK we had a bit of derision last year about a North/South divide in the game – it wasn’t good for anyone but after our LD failed to make any cities count to rankings till March, we united and our nationals were in my opinion played with a better spirit than 2006.

I disagree with your specific point about Team M, but your other points in general are valid.

I think there is still a North/South divide between players and have my reasons.

It has. But keep in mind, the hiearchy involed with OP in Australia is one of the reasons why we are no longer enjoying much of the game. Our last 3 OP's I believe have been sacked and it's created a bit of a rift between players.

Heck, we want to try and run a OP based from a gaming place like Sydney Gmes Centre, rather than Croftminister as reason was stated in Envoy's post. :/ (still, Croftminister is still acceptable as local distributor)

lol @ Shaw.

i am not too sure but i know its to do with croftminister which was the one who sacked Vickey from what I remember. Correct me if I am wrong.

personally i liked your article and the points you are trying to make.

however being at the top of one of the most popular teams out there i must say you are right, there does seem to be a large degree of secrecy, ranting, rivalries, and the mentality to win is crucial in order to be "successful". when looked at on the team level i believe success would be winning in most scenarios,no?

anyways here is my main point. the decision to apply to join a team and to walk out from the team is the individuals choice,as is how that person chooses to play the game and how they handle themselves at OP events. whether that be in a 'i'm going to win' or a 'i'm going to have fun' and also whether or not they choose to be 'humble' or cocky'. that is solely the choice of the individual player and the team is there to help players better one another in their attempt at a common goal whether it be 'winning' or 'having fun'. some teams are more serious others are more casual but remember teams are made of indivuals and they are the ones who make the team what it is.

speaking on the behalf all of players in Team Rocket and anyone that agrees with the points i have just made.

It's beginning to become like Yu-Gi-Oh what with powers that block other powers.

theres been tons of cards that turn off abilities. just because alakazam can do it when its not your turn, it doesnt even begin to reflect what yugioh is.

It's more the aspect of using something in response. Ie. they don't know whether you will use power cancel or not until they declare the power.

that is a joke right?

Yugioh is FAR more difficult of a game than pokemon

because of the amount of randomness involved with lucksacking.

Pokemon has a standardized metagame which allows people to strategize their moves and build their decks around these metagames, and Archetypes.- at least, thats the one good thing about Australia, our best 2/3 format really helps this.

Yu-Gi-Oh! either has a metagame of 3-5 decks, and encounters absolute randomness from there on out. You can't afford to strategize and build your deck properly based on the metagame, because there's too much netdecking involved.

It is Intresting..There is So much Drama and Politics and Favortizm and controversy amoung a community of a card game. There isn't as much drama in any other TCG/ even in MTG/ I know, I play MTG/.. And Team Lafonte? What's that XD/ what does that have to do with pokemon?

Krucifer: my appologies for any rude comments i have ever unwittingly or purposefully made to you or any other austrailian pokemon player
i didnt realize that australia had such bad OP rep over there, or that the game was dying
i think u do have several valid points about the game, all it has become is one guy saying "l00kz 1Mz @n 1337 playerz" and not focusing on the purpose of the game, to have fun (hence why i say im a bad player, i would sooner go 0-7 at a tourney than end up like one of those arrogant people)
this isnt sarcasm, this isnt mockery, this is not making fun of you in any way
im sorry

This post shows you know nothing about the game so please dont bother to explain anymore.
