What is a battle road?

(paraphrasing a bit from pokemon.com)
Battle Road Autumn tournaments are designed to provide players with small, entry-level events on a local scale. These events are a great way to get your feet wet in the world of Premier Events. Great first tournament events for players who are used to league play and want to move into a more competitive atmosphere.
 
The top cut players will win some booster packs and the winner recieves a "Victory Medal" card, which has limited merit as an actual playable card.
 
In Battle Roads you get Victory Medal I think, and Packs of the latest set or a early set. It's a great way to get started in this game. Unfortunately I started in states which is a much higher stakes tournament. People hated losing to a noob... :'(
 
Cool. Although I've never played the card game except at a prerelease, I have been collecting for several years and I am quite familiar with the cards. I only really want the victory medal for my collection anyway. ;)
