Mewtwo Returns/Legend of Raikou are not movies but specials
that's how it was in Japan.

 
Movie 1 Japanese version. When the pokeclones and the daughter dies at the beginning and Mewtwo is left alone--wow!! (don't remember that part?? Thank 4Kids/WB)
Movie 2 American Version. SD Pokemom is right on here. The music was actually better here than in the original version! My daughter's intro to Donna Summer, Weird Al, and the B-52's (Cho---osen, one ahhhhhhh)
Jirachi--better than it should have been due to the amazing chiisaki mono--and it was included in the US DVD as a video!
Darkrai--again, it's all about the music. The music tower was a neat creative concept and the theme of music soothing pokemon (while also in movie 2) still worked for me.

the problem with the lugia movie imho is the pan-and-scan fullscreen in the 4kids version. there are some real issues in some of the battle scenes where the 'action' is all but cut off because of the cropping to fullscreen. the 'liberties' taken in the 4kids 'adaptation' of the japanese script are :meh: too ('beast of the sea', anyone? =/) the theme melody plays to summon lugia is better in the american version than the japanese.

movie 8 was adapted very well imo, and in the opinions of friends who saw the original during it's theatrical run in japan. movie 1 really needs to be seen in the japanese original, with the 'missing' mewtwo backstory restored. what 4kids cut out of that movie's US release turns the story 180 degrees...

Well 4kids are evil haven't you seen what YGOTAS says about it? They cut every thing.
You might want to check out the latest movie and base your dicision off of that before you jump to the movie you buy.
 
Woah... Pokeman 2000 was absolute garbage. It was just some flirtatious chick playing a dumb song on a flute all the time and some dude named Ash running around picking up orbs. LAME IMO.

Well, I've only seen the first 4 movies, plus one unlisted one "Mewtwo Returns." From what I can remember last time I watched it, it was OK. Much better than the first three movies. It is kind of a sequel to the 1st movie, and it was only available on tape.

Also, from what I can remember, the 4th movie was also better than the first three. Nice animation.

Yeah, but I'm not a fan of the movies. I really only enjoy the first couple seasons of the show since they're so nostalgic :lol:.
 
I would have to say the fifth movie is the best.
It has a great extended theme song.
Good villeins and plot.
A surprise at the end of the movie.
It also shows a book with something from the 2nd movie.
Over all its a great movie.
