I mean seriously, we have all the articles for the newest decks being used (even if some people do not agree with the article or deck), we might as well have them in the archtype forum.

^ Agreed. Even if they die out, they can be replaced if needed. Any way, somthing is better than nothing, which is what we have right now.

And FYI, I don't think that most of the decks in the articles will die out, except for Blissy.

It is w/e if they put up the articles on the archetype. Only archetype this year IMO is Blissey and there are like a bagillion versions of that deck so it would be hard to make it an archetype. Just wait til after cities!!!

I planned on waiting until after there was more clear definition of a metagame to start calling certain decks archetypes or not.

I feel it's pretty clear at the moment. I mean, look at the decks that did well at Battle Roads? Do Battle Roads not count for some reason?

Doing well the entire season has never been a requirement for being in the archetype section. There has been many decks that have done well during regionals and then flopped thereafter and they were included in the Archetype section.

IMHO, the archetype section is for the combos that have stood out and showed that yes, they do work, and they do win tournaments. They don't have to be consistently good throughout the entire season to be an archetype.

yeah seriously. I say we should have a section where certain decks should be in certain tier sections. Such as, having decks be in Border line areas, Over Used, Under Used, Never Used but it has to be decks that everyone knows. So that way, players will have an idea of what the metagame will be like

A system like the video game with OU and UU and stuff? I can understand the idea behind it, but I feel once people starting putting decks in the sections, it would lead to controversy over which section the deck really deserved to be in.

The metagame is going to be different from area to area, so I don't really see decks being listed by (opinion) tiers would help educate the community on what they will face in their area.

Let's keep the video games away from the TCG here...you can't compare those tier systems really.

Anyways, I think that after Cities would be the best time for archtype updates as well. Not only are there no new major sets to be released before or during them, it allows all the Secret Wonder combos and stuff to really be included as well.

No major sets released before Cities? What about Secret Wonders? There is nothing different between Cities and Battle Roads. Both had a set released right before them, and both had a set released right after them (next set comes out before states).

The Archetype Discussion is not there to keep up with the decks that are doing well NOW, it is there to keep up with the decks that have done well at anytime in the past. That is why threads like MetaNite survived on even after nobody played it anymore. I feel some decks (like Mario) need to be added, not to say it's a tier 1 deck, but to give the deck some recognition as being good enough to win many tournaments with.

Kricketune needs to be in the section too imho.

    Blissey is in for sure.....

When are the mods gonna do it? When pigs fly?

Question, how is destiny still an archetype? Mew ex is gone..... and all the other stuff the deck is based off of.

I love the respect and kindness we get for all the time we put into this site for you... for FREE.

I'm essentially the only deck forum mod. I go to school full time, work 25+ hours a week, have a girlfriend, a social life, and then I'm a moderator. I can't get to everything immediately. If there was a real necessity in putting the "archetypes" up then I would.

Want a reason they're not there?
    They don't belong there.

There is no standard strategy to blissey. It's a ridiculous card that can be thrown into any deck. There isn't one cohesive article that can be written on a blissey standard strategy. The varients change daily, and are very unstable. It's not a finished deck that can be written about to be analyzed.

As for other, non-blissey decks... they aren't archetypes. We just got a new set in which comletely changed the format and metagame. We have no idea what the metagame even IS yet. Without a metagame, how can there possibly be an archetype?

I guess I could put some of the standard strategy articles like Mario (which I thought was already there. KG and I discussed putting it there. Maybe I forgot.) and Hurricane. I don't see the rush yet because we haven't even started with the true season yet.

I don't have any complaints with the timing of the issue. I just want to make sure the logic behind the section is correct.

Ryan, you say that you can't put up decks now because SW just came out and there is no way to tell what the archetypes are. What happens when Cities are over, and GE comes out? You can't put up archetypes because a new set just came out and there is no way to tell what the archetypes are? This could go on forever if you let it, because sets come out every 3 months.

I don't really care when decks are added to the archetype section, but I do care if certain decks are excluded or overlooked because they weren't popular at that moment. Let's say Cities rolls around and Inferncatty isn't played because of some untold secret. Time rolls around to post archetypes, and Inferncatty is excluded because it isn't popular at the moment. I think that would be the wrong thinking if that happened. As much as the archetype section is there to tell people what they might face at a tournament, it is also there to tell them about decks that used to be good earlier in the format (or formats). To exclude a deck because it isn't played at the moment wouldn't be the right way of doing things imho. Because at any point that deck that was excluded could become very playable (in the right metagame) and might do really well. And when people go to get information on it, and there is no archetype discussion for it, people are going to lose out on information about it.

I would not call Mario an archetype. But IMHO, it's the closest a deck can get to being one without actually being one, and it's proven itself many times already. IMHO, it's not the best deck, or the best idea, but it has won tournaments, and that is why I feel it does deserve to be put into the archetype discussion. And I am worried that Mario will be overlooked when time comes to add archetypes because it doesn't see much play at Cities.

I feel many decks could be added now.

    Empoleon/Lucario (even if I don't like it)
A whole forum for Blissey
    Feraligatr/Delcatty (w/ or w/o Magneton)

And just wait and see what new decks come out of SW.

Again, I'm not pressing the NOW more than just pressing the LOGIC. The logic should be collecting all the decks that have done well this season, not just this tournament series (cities, or states).

    Just my honest opinion.

Honstly, most decks will just get better with the new set comming out.

Setup decks, like Hurricane now are much better with Stantler and Furret, Blissy is going to fade, so the other decks that where over shadowed by it will start to come out now.

The time to up date the fourms is now, not in a month.

I just now remembered why mario isn't in that section.

We decided (I think FS, snore and I) that after the feature article is off the front page we would move it to the archetype section. That way it still gets the most coverage before it gets moved.

I'll go ahead and start moving stuff over there.

Keep your eyes peeled over the next few days.

So ryan why is destiny still there?
