I am not really a "gamer" so I don't really care about the other stuff at Origins. I enjoy playing the pokemon TCG but really don't have any interest playing another game like it. Obviously some people go there for just Nats and others go there for Origins too. I really don't think that they will have Nats anywhere else and don't mind it in Ohio much anyway. If all you do at Origins is Pokemon, your missing out. There is so much to do, and not only at the Con. I understand preparing for Nats, but have some fun, Nats is stressfull enough as it is, lol.
I also do belive a top cut with a higher amount would be nice.
i say we all start chanting 64 at Nats, "Who's with me?"
Higher seeds getting a bye would work, except that none of the other tournaments work like that. I really don't see POP doing something so different from the rest of the events they hold.I understand the pros and cons to each side of the T-32 compared to T-64. However, I think that there are 2 possibilities:
1) There could be a non-rating effected play in for the 7-2's (Somewhat like World's Grinder).
2) All 7-2's make top cut, but the higher seeded players get a first round bye (Basically T-64, but w/o 6-3's making it)
Although I've never been to Nat's, I understand how important the side-events are to the full Nationals' experience, so moving away from Origins would just be wrong!!!
On the topic of who should make the cut at tournaments like Nats and Worlds, my opinion is that nobody who wins more than 70% of their games should miss the cut. This means that if there were ten rounds, all 8-2s would make it, and 7-3s would have to live and die by the computer. If there were nine rounds, all 7-2s (77.8%) would make it, and 6-3s would live and die by resistance. Eight rounds would mean that all 6-2s (75%) make it, and 5-3s have to pray for a good tiebreaker. That sort of thing.
Run however many swiss rounds you want - just pick a win percentage and make the cut large enough that all those who exceed that percentage make it in, with the leftovers at the mercy of the computer.
Doing a system like the would work but if they wound up
with say 48 players they would have to do byes for some people or you would wind up with top 3.
