Someone at TPCi probably noticed the huge attendance boost being on the main land (e.g. San Diego) brings the event. Just having it on the main land cuts costs so much and makes it viable for more people to go if they/do or don't qualify.

Continuing from your logic, if one of the goals of hosting Worlds is to have a "huge attendance boost," then I think the best place to host it would be Tokyo or Kyoto. Not only is there a high concentration of active Pokemon players in Japan because Japan is a densely populated country (compared to the US), having Worlds in Japan would be much more accessible to more active players than having worlds anywhere in the United States. (Keep in mind that European players would be indifferent between Tokyo and San Diego because they are pretty much equidistant.)

Alternating between San Diego and Hawaii, in my opinion, is an attempt by TPCi to provide a location that is central and convenient. Just like it is costlier for you to get to Hawaii from the United States, it is costlier for someone to get to San Diego from Japan.

Coming from New York City, I'd personally much rather go to Worlds in Hawaii (where I can have a nice vacation afterward) than San Diego (where I don't really want to stay). Yea, it's going to cost a little more, but the location in Hawaii is just awesome, and well worth it for me.

Hawai is good for jpn

So well have worlds in paris afterwards :D?

Perhaps I was asleep at the switch, but this seems to finally give an indication that the LCQ is still a part of the World's schedule.
