    1. Make sure your deck is complete and is according to the current format. If you are not sure about a card, check with a Gym Leader, Professor, Judge or Organizer.
    2. Make sure you bring your deck, dice and damage counters.
    3. Be sure to complete your Deck list. These are required at almost every major event.
    4. When you bring your deck list to the tourney and present it with your deck to the Judge, make sure your deck is in the same order as is on the deck list. For example:
Pokemon - in order as listed on your sheet
Trainer Cards in order as listed on you sheet
Energy Cards in order as listed on your sheet.
This makes the registration process go MUCH MUCH faster.
    5. Have your POP ID handy. If you don't have it let the Judge/Staff know so they can assign you one. If you have played before and do have a POP ID, but forgot it, let the Judge/staff know so they can look it up for you.
    6. Pay attention to announcements.
    7. Always watch your belongings. Don’t leave them unattended.
    8. Also, why not bring yourself a snack and some drinks. Those who have played before know this is a long day, and those who are new sure find out!
    9. These are also great days for trading cards and meeting great people.
    10. Lastly, remember, although Pokemon is great fun, remember it is a GAME, and we are here to enjoy! Good Luck to all!

Thanks to Renee Martinez for this “Player Checklist“!

The tournament will played using the MODIFIED FORMAT which includes:
    • E Expedition
    • E Aquapolis
    • E Skyridge
    • EX Ruby & Sapphire
    • EX Sandstorm
    • EX Dragon
    • ***EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua set is not allowed in this tournament***
    • Promos with the number 001 and up
    • Any cards from older sets with the same name as the cards from these sets may also be used.
    • Foreign language copies of these cards may be used. It is the player’s responsibility to know the exact information contained in the card.
    • If you are not sure if a card is legal to use in the tournament, you may approach any of the Tournament’s Staff or any of the League Leader or Pokemon Professor. Any of them would be more than happy to help you.
    Randomizer & damage counters:
It is a player’s responsibility to make sure that you bring a die and damage counters for the tournament.

Only a 20-sided die will be permitted as a randomizer for this event. No coins, paper coins or electronic randomizers will be allowed. If you do not have one available, notify any of the Tournament Staff and they will provide you with one.

If you don’t have enough damage counters or if you don’t have any damage counters at all, notify any of the Tournament Staff and they will provide you with damage counters to use for the event.

Random deck/sleeves check will be conducted throughout the tournament. If it is found that your deck has been altered, you will be disqualified.

Profanity, poor sportsmanship & unruly behavior will not be tolerated. Due to the differing age groups, these issues cannot be overlooked. Also, out of respect to the venue’s proprietor, the tournament staff has to make sure that the event is conducted without any unpleasant incident. If you decide to ignore this rule, you will be disqualified from the tournament & will be ejected from the premises. You may make your own decision ahead of time not to participate in this event if you disagree with this rule.

Any ruling made by a Judge will be final. Respect this rule. If you disrespect a Judge or a Tournament Staff in any way, you will be ejected from the premises as per RULE 4 above.

Once your match is over, call a judge/staff to have your results recorded on their sheet. Afterwards, you & your opponent will sign the judge’s sheet. Do not leave the table until a judge/staff has recorded your results. Your signature declares that the results are accurate and these results cannot be altered afterwards.

Most important rule of all, give it all your best and try to win but don’t forget to have fun playing!

Nice to hear that you guys are coming Renee. Consider those names logged.

Hope you guys can make it next time, Dave. Say "HI" to the family for me.

As a side note, I suggest to all participants to pre-register for this tournament since we have a limited amount of seating. We will do our best to try and accomodate everyone but we can only do so much.

    See you then!

I will be Head Judge of this event.
I hope all of you will have a fun time and an enjoyable day.
I will be asking Players to do the following:

Please bring 20 sided dice. We will only be allowing 20 sided dice in this
Tournament. If you do not own any 20 sided dice, I will bring a large supply
    with me to loan out.

We will not be using dice as damage counters. Please bring real damage
counters with you. I will try to have some extra damage counters on hand.

We will be doing lots of deck checks.
The object of increased security is to block cheating
by using widespread security measures on everyone.
When your game is over, do not put your deck away.
Raise your left hand and wait for a staff member.
If you have a ruling question raise your right hand or both hands.

Please be polite and respectful to the staff members. Disrespect to a Staff
Official by sarcasitic comments, rude tone of voice, or attemping to
intimidate a staff member will result in a game loss of the current game
or the next available game to be played. Adults will be handled in a much
stricter manner than children. Cursing, crude jokes, or rough horse play
will also result in a game loss.

    Hope to see you there!

I have purchased Fifty 20 sided dice to loan out at this and other events.
Since I have so many each player will be provided with one 20 sided dice.
They will be responsible for their dice to return it to me.

Please refer to the thread "Laying to rest the specter of impropriety"
located in the "TCG News Discussion" in the "PokeGym Forum"
    this will answer your questions.

I don't see anything in the other thread that justifies the rules for 20-sided dice and damage counters. Could you please explain (without the poke-help)?
  13. NoPoke

    NoPoke Active Member

A 20 sided die is just as easy to rig as a 6 sided dice: I won't elaborate on how but I can hit heads on a 20 sided die much more reliably than with a 6 sided one.

TO's can PM me if they want to know how...
  14. Prof. Douglas Zuver

    Prof. Douglas Zuver New Member

Dice make very poor substitutes for damage counters, because they easily
roll over, get knocked over by other dice, get mistaken for real dice and
rolled, fall off cards when you pick them up to move them, etc..
And all that is considering that the player is honest and not trying to cheat.

I will be doing my best to provide a level playing field for everyone.

We will be the Host State for the Pokemon World Championship,
and it will definately have increased security.
I see no reason why a Judge needs justification for increased security
at any event, large or small as long as he or she clears it with the TO
and it does not cause players lots of money or other hardships.
Since I have gone to Walmart and purchased lots of damage counters,
and I am providing the Dice, this will not cost the players any money at all.

I hope this answers all your questions.
Now, I will get back to my drawing...

    Hope to see you there!

Doug, personally i could care less what we roll with. Strange, though, that the previous 5
City Championships i attended did NOT allow 20 sided dice to be used for anything
and you are taking the stance you are REQUIRING them to be used.

I was planning to attend this event . The last city championship Khymm organized was
a FUN and very well run event. I have absolutely no problem with your latest "security
measures" but the overtones in your posts make you sound like the [police] or something.
I find them to be threatening and totally unneccessary ( unless you are trying to keep
    players away).

I play to have fun and for some reason i don't seem to enjoy the events you head judge.
This is not meant as a personal attack on you. But you should ALWAYS remember
we gather at these events to have FUN and not to be threatened or intimidated.

I know the idea is to eliminate cheating. I play as clean as a player can play and am
all for catching the few who don't. But i have better things to do this weekend than put up with the
wonderfulness that is you as a head judge. So be happy Patrick, i'm staying home.

And b.t.w., WHAT does being a player living in Florida have to do with hosting worlds?
Some of the best players in the country come from here.Good, honest players.
What better example can we set?
Nintendo's best of the best will be in charge and it will be a great event.
I don't see where your coments were coming from at all refering to us hosting worlds .

[edit: That was a bit harsh. Let's keep it reasonable. It's an internet law that the first one to accuse the other party of being a Nazi automatically loses the argument.-pop]

I'm tired of people "losing" damage counter when they retreat their active Pokemon.

I've had much more problems with someone switching a Pokemon with 7 damage counters on it (and having only 5 or 6 when it hits the bench) than I have with people changing dice. With all those damage counters lying around, it's easy to lose track.

I just have to say, as a parent that was there with my son, that today's event was one of the worst that either I or my son have attended. This was due solely to the inappropriate actions of the Head Judge and his mother. They both displayed preferential treatment toward some players and against others. Anyone that brought this to their attention was threatened with penalties.

    Those are pretty hefty accusations.
I note that they are made anonomously and with no reference to any details.
If you have any issues with the event, please contact PUI at [email protected]
We don't need to get into a he-said-she-said flame war on the gym.
