Your Legendary Pokemon Stories

The point of this thread is to talk about your Legendary Pokemon captures and how they went. I'll start this off.

So, my friend gave me her old Gamboy Advanced SP and I had found a old copy of Pokemon Fire Red. I replayed the game so I can get the birdies from GoD.

Anyway I'm all ready to get Zapdos. I told myself as soon as I get the HM for surf, I was going to get it. My whole team was level 50 and I went to go get'em. I spent over 150 thousand P just to get ready for it. I got 70 ultra balls a bunch of potions and what not and go up to it.

I get it's health really low, Zapdos can't see and is paralyzed. It still would not stay in the ball. I mean, this bird has no idea what I could do for it. I mean, there's food, health care, a safe place to stay. Everything a Pokemon could want but it would not stay in the ball. 62 Ultra Balls later, I finally get it.

Zapdos cost me a lot of money, AND IT DID NOT EVEN HAVE A ELECTRIC TYPE MOVE. only Drill Peck.

Today, I decide to get Articuno. Keep in mind I forgot to buy Ultra Balls. I get to the bird and save in from of it, like everyone does and see what happens. I checked my stock before I entered the battle and saw that I had 8 Ultra balls. I was like crap and tried it anyway. My team is now level 55+ with 6 Badges.

I use the same tactics I used on Zapdos. I started Zapdos so I could paralyze Articuno. Well, Zapdos got blasted with a ice beam and it kind of hurt. So I hit it back with a Shock Wave. Articuno has low health, can't see and is paralyzed.

I pass about 10 or so turn before I start throwing ultra balls at it. I throw one at it and it breaks out. Now I have 7 left. next turn I throw another one at it and catch it. I was like 'really'. Zapdos cost me over 100,000 P and Articuno only cost me 2400 P?

Well, there you have it. Zapdos seems to like costing people money.

yeah, those three aren't even worth it most of the time. They're a pain to get to and a pain to catch. I've caught those three 4 times, and I've decided to just give up on them. Zapdos can be good if you get a good nature and IVs, though. It's worth it sometimes.

My brother is playing Leaf green. He gets through the power plant and decides to try Zapdos. AFTER starting the fight, he finds out he only has two great balls and one pokeball. Ah, whatever, might as well try. WITHOUT weakening it, he uses a greatball. No luck. Turn two, great ball, nothing. Turn three, Zapdos still full HP, pokeball. Catch. >_<

In Heart Gold, I tried a grand total of 114 times to try and catch Ho-oh. I kept track after attempt #10.

Attempts were made where it knocked itself out from STRUGGLE with no attacks on my end. (from the first turn I started chucking balls)
...and 1HP left.
...and paralyzed
...Asleep.
..Frozen too!

How did I catch it? Turned the game on, walked up, talked to it, threw a Great Ball, miss. a Great Ball, Miss. Finally, a Net Ball, catch.

Also, for all of the Legendary Dogs, I went into one battle, attacked once, fled. Put my level 70 Lugia up front, went into battle, threw a Nest Ball, catch.

Dialga on my Diamond. Hit it once with Earthquake with Torterra, get it down to a little less than half health. Decide to throw a Pokeball just for kicks, because it had to take a turn to recharge. Catch first try. Pretty lucky for me haha

this is for rayquaza on emerald

I tried a few dozen times (yes, I counted but it was a while ago so I can't remember the exact number) with Swampart's Ice Beam, Breloom's spore, etc. until it had red HP each time and was asleep then i would use up my 40 ultra balls and reset. Finally, I got fed up so I went and caught a swellow, which I used a heart scale to get endeavor. I got him to 17 HP or something before I went into battle, then used endeavor on a turn when rayquaza used rest. I used a few ultra balls before it woke up and it KOd a few pokes with outrage before using rest. I repeated the process (I hate that thing's rest attack) until Swellow ran out of endeavors then I let him be KOd. It happened a few times like this before I finally just walked up to rayquaza and threw a few poke balls out of frustration. 4 or 5 misses, then 3 shakes, and catch. I just sat there for like 5 minutes just staring blankly at the screen. This is after trying with 40 ultra balls at red health while asleep time after time after time. I still don't know why it worked that one time, because I looked it up and rayquaza's catch rate is .4% according to bulbapedia. Strange how it works, no?

Uxie - I tried many, many times catching it with Timer Balls, waiting and passing many turns to let the turns go by but it always killed itself with struggle. I try a new approach - Quick Ball first turn. Catch it. Woooo.

This story begins with LeafGreen, Zapdos, and 80 Ultra Balls. It ended with me quoting Happy Gilmore, though replacing "ball" with "Zapdos".
