Mercury Deck:
4 Articuno (fossil or promo) 4 Squirtles (legendary) 4 Dark Wartortles (rocket) 1 Dark Blastoise (rocket 4 Horsea (neo Gen) 2 Seadra (neo gen) 1 Kingdra (neo disc) 2 Staryu (legendary) 2 Meowth (any kind, preferably jungle) 1 Persian (Jungle)
2 Energy Removal 2 Bill 2 Potion 1 Misty's Tears 1 Lt. Surge's Treaty 1 Energy Retrieval 1 Challenge
25 Water Energy
TOTALS: 25 Pokemon, 10 Trainers, 25 Energy
Best idea with this deck is to get out the heavy hitters first. It's essential to get an Articuno or Meowth out due to the otherwise huge weakness to electricity. Articuno is the backbone of this deck, with the two main evolutions being Kingdra and Dark Blastoise. Kingdra can be used against energy heavy opponents, his twister attack allowing you to remove up to two energy cards fromt he defending pokemon. Dark Blastoise can have an attack power of 70 with 4 water energy attached. Articuno's freeze dry and blizzard can paralize or attack the bench, but requires time to power up, so i need to use faster basic pokemon, like staryu to block forst. Ok, i found 4 problems with this deck: 1. Too many Pokemon 2. Too many energies 3. Too few trainers 4. Too many evolution lines
With water type decks, the variety of Pokemon will make you want to hit your head on teh wall as hard as possible. Go with the Horsea evo. line (add one more Seadra and 2 more Neo3 Kingdras)and Promo Articuno (to protect your bench). Then just add 3 Tyrouge, 3 Cleffa, and 3 Jungle Scyther (it uses 3 of any energy to deal 30 damage. very good card in any Unlimited deck). That gives ya 19 Pokemon. Now we talk about your Trainers. This needs to be edited A LOT. For now, let us pretend that you dont have any trainers at all. Here is what you should add: 4 Elm (Neo1) 4 Gold Berry (Neo1) 3 Focus Band (Neo1) 3 Super Scoop Up (Neo1) 3 Heal Powder (Neo4) 3 Pokemon Trader (LC) 3 Energy Search (Fossil/Expedition) 2 Computer Error (Promo) This gives you a total of 25 Trainers (which is pretty good). Now we go on to the energies. this (to me) has to be the hardest part when it comes to water energies. Why? Because everyone will add in something like 4 Steel Energies, Darkness Energies, or Crystal/Rainbow Energies. Using my "Z-touch" (it's a calculator, clock, phone book, and racing game all in a small little handheld keychain), i calculated that you have 16 cards short to a full deck. SSSSOOOOOO here is my idea. Put in 4 Metal Energies, 4 DC (Double Colorless incase u didnt know), and 8 Water energies. Here is my reasoning: 1. Metal Energies on Baby Pokemon/Kindra is a good combo since they will recieve 10 less damage. 2. Double Colorless energies so that u can power up Kingdra's Twister in less time (DC on 1st turn, and water energies on turn 2 and 3). 3. 8 water energies just because all the pokemon have close-to-low energy req.
So now you have a full deck:
4 Horsea-Neo1 3 Seadra-Neo1 3 Kingdra-Neo3 4 Articuno-Promo 3 Tyrouge-Smash Punch ver. 3 Cleffa-Neo1 3 Scyther-Jungle/Base2 ---------------------------------- 4 Elm (Neo1) 4 Gold Berry (Neo1) 3 Focus Band (Neo1) 3 Super Scoop Up (Neo1) 3 Heal Powder (Neo4) 3 Pokemon Trader (LC) 3 Energy Search (Fossil/Expedition) 2 Computer Error (Promo) ----------------------------------- 8 Water 4 Metal 4 Double Colorless
I decided to put in Computer error because your original deck already looked like Unlimited format (no offense), and since the Modified Tourney rules might ban Neo cards for the next SBZ, this would be perfect in Unlimited Format (since they accept all cards except Ancient Mew and B-day Pikachu). -------------------------------------------------- "May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce" -Descendants of the Sages Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
