I think this might be locked or get moved to Single Card discussion since you didn't post a deck with it. Otherwise, what was the alst set you played under? Depending on how long its been will affect what needs to be explained It sounds like three years, so you quit when, about the time of Fossil Team Rocket? There are two formats for Pokemon now: Unlimted and Modified. Unlimited is bascially any WotC released English card (or foreign language equivelent) except ________'s Pikachu and Ancient Mew. The other format is known as Modified. That format consists of the most recently released cards-about teh alst 2 years worth of sets. Right now it includes Neo Genesis (Except for htis set's Sneasel and Slowking), Neo Discovery, Neo Revelation, Neo Destiny, The Southern Islands Collection, the Legendery Collection ( a reprint set of many cards from Base, Jungle, Fossil, and Team Rocket), and Expedition (first of the E-card sets), and Black Star Promos #22+ (except _____'s Pikachu) and the new Best of Play Promos. Ancient Mew is also illegal here. I may ahve forgottne something, but that's most of it.
For fire deks, I recommend an updated Base Arcanine deck for either format (it was reprinted in LC). you may use old printings of cards as long as there is a legal new printing (so since the re-released Charizard Lv76 in the Legendery Collection you can still use it the Base set one in Modified). You also might ahve some new card types to learn depending on what set was out when you quit... [ December 22, 2002, 07:29 PM: Message edited by: Otaku ]

If you are going to play fire you might check out the Purity Magcargo/Entei topic that was posted a couple of days ago it is closed, but it discusses what I think is the best fire deck around. Magcargo from Neo Revelation used in Conjunction with Entei from the same set. Entie has a power called Howl which allows you to discard the top five cards from your deck and place any fire energies on a fire Pokemon. Magcargo has an attack that allows you to do 40 damage for 3 fire energy plus an additional 20 for each fire energy discarded. You could knock out a 120 HP okemon with 4 fires on Magcargo. Enaie really powers you magcargo fast, and magcargo just knocks out pokemon one after the other. You can also use Entei with Arcanine and Ninetales from Base sets which where rereleased in Legendary, and leagle in modified format.

Well welcome back to the wonderful world of Pokémon. Unfortunately i have to lock your post as it violates the Deck Help and Strategy rules. But if you really want to see some Fire decks, read the decks posted, they go back quite some time (just don't reply to any as raising dead topics isn't allowed) so you should be able to get a good variety of decks.
