Hello this is another article by MonkeyMan here debating on if Non-Holo Suicune is worth it in gatr. I have played A LOT of games with Suicune in my deck and it has won me games and lost me games. The biggest problem I found is when your opponent is playing a Trainer Denial deck and a murkrow locks you in. Yet I know you shouldnt play Suicune in a game for that case but sometimes you are forced to or he is DBG up. The same rules apply to a Crobat deck the Lock your hand in (RSA+IOR) and then lay a chaos and Mean Look in Suicune and against Crobat you need to use Suicune making you vulnerable there. It takes 3 turns to build up suicune so it wont be easy to build him up and start attacking. Suicune does have a plus side though. He allows you to DBG without your opponent choosing and wont let your opponent get the second effect of DBG ,so you can keep the guy you are building up alive. Lets look at a deck with Suicune...

4 Totodile
4 Croconaw
3 Feraligatr
3 Cleffa
2 Suicune
2 Pichu
1 Magby

17 water

4 Professor Elm
4 Wrath
4 Double Gust
3 Secret Mission
3 Trash Exchange
3 Focus Band
2 Healing Field
1 Narrow (My TecH so I dont hurt myself with pichu)

Now as you can tell this is a average gatr w/suicune and with the 2 suicune it leaves little space for TecH options I have noticed. Some decks also have variants wihout pichu at all and use Elekid and FHE ,but I myself dont want to be that weak to a pichu. A Elekid,Suicune, and Feraligatr down is as bad as Lava Snails for powers. Either way the suicune does help the player but it leaves them little room to change things because they are at the bare minimum as it is ALMOST. Now lets look at a deck without suicune...

SIDENOTE: I am using Jonathan Brooks deck for the ECSC because I am to lazy to type up another deck. Props to him and Eric for getting a free paid trip to worlds.

Pokémon (18)
3 Cleffa (Lv. 6) (Neo Genesis)
1 Elekid (Neo Genesis)
1 Magby (Neo Genesis)
2 Pichu (Lv. 5) (Neo Genesis)
4 Tododile (Lv. 20) (Neo Genesis)
4 Croconaw (Lv. 41) (Neo Genesis)
3 Feraligatr (Lv. 69) (Neo Genesis)
Trainers (24)
4 Double Gust (Neo Genesis)
3 Focus Band (Neo Genesis)
4 Misty's Wrath (Gym Heroes)
1 Narrow Gym (Gym Heroes)
4 Professor Elm (Neo Genesis)
1 The Rocket's Training Gym (Gym Heroes)
3 Secret Mission (Gym Heroes)
1 Time Capsule (Neo Genesis)
3 Trash Exchange (Gym Heroes)
Energy (18)
18 Water Energy

Now this deck is TecHed out IMO. It has Time Capsule, Elekid, RTG and Narrow instead of the normal healing fields. Even if Jon wanted to he could TecH in a FHE energy for that pesky confusion a bat gives you. Now as you can see this deck has won MANY tournaments such as the WCSTS and ECSC with multiple players of it (the brooks) and they seem not to play suicune. Maybe they are luck and dont need it but 4 people being lucky and 2 of them Winning a ECSC and 1/2 (cant remeber) a WCSTS is some REALLY good luck and this has reached me to the point at which I started is Suicune worth it? when you can TecH your deck against another or go with stopping DBG in general. well give your opinions and please do actual fixes to the 1st deck its my deck I will more than likely play for the GC this Saturday. I'm sorry but there already is a nice thread discussing Suicune in a Feraligatr deck, please click here to add your comments to that thread. [Tap]
