Ok... I haven't bought cards for a long time. I don't know the new cards very well. So, if anyone knows how to upgrade this deck a bit with the new sets a would be grateful.

Thank You! [Smile]

Pokemon:(20)
4x Scyther (jungle)
4x Meowth (jungle)
3x Persian (jungle)
4x Rattata (base set)
3x Raticate (base set)
2x Ditto (Fossil)

Energy: (23)
15x Green energy
4x Double Colorless Energy
4x Recycle Energy

Trainer: (17)
4x Energy Removal
4x Super Energy Removal
4x Bill
2x Prof. Oak
3x Plus Power

Deck is basically a colorless deck with support of Scyther (and Ditto [Wink] ). All pokemons have Retreat Cost of zero or one so it's easy to use different pokemons. Only basics and second stage evolution. I also like to remove opponents energies while I boost mine with Double Colorless Energy. Recycle Energies are used with Super Energy Removals to prevent own energy losses. Bills and Prof. Oaks are used to get "the key cards" from the deck. I can also terrorise opponents plans with Plus Power (etc. He/She thinks I do 20 Damage and defending pokemons remaining health is 30, then plus power...).

You have an interesting idea here, but let's do some work on it. First, drop about 6-8 Grass (you called them Green) Energy. I've run as few as 14 Energy in a deck, and VERY rarely had problems with Energy shortages. Second, although your Trainer structure is on the right track, you need a few more. Free up room to add Computer Search and Item Finder to the Trainers you have. Third, although Scyther and Ditto are both superb for Unlimited decks, the Persian and Raticate lines are likely to fall down on the job. They're pretty weak, truth be told. You said part of your theme is being able to retreat free, or with only one Energy. Lots of good Pokemon fit this theme, and here are some that tend to do well:
  • Chansey (Base). A very popular Pokemon in Unlimited, at least in my area. If you use it, put in a single Unown N and some Metal Energies. With one Metal Energy (and 3 other Energy) attached, Unown N in play, and a Gold Berry attached, you can use Double Edge to do 70 damage, and Chansey only loses the Gold Berry. One retreat.
  • Sneasel (Genesis). So powerful, it had to be banned from Modified. If you use it, put in as many Darkness Energy and Rainbow Energy cards as you can. This guy is the ultimate in big hitters when your bench is full, and has a free retreat.
  • Murkrow (Genesis). I use this one myself. You will need Darkness Energy, or at least Rainbow. Use Mean Look to prevent your opponent from retreating, then you can either wear down their Active or hit their Bench.
  • Qwilfish (Discovery). Less popular, but it will fit well. One retreat. Attach a Double Colorless Energy and use Needle Storm. If you're lucky, you can hit pretty hard. Risky, but I use it.
  • Tyrogue (Discovery). This guy's gotten famous -- or infamous, depending on your point of view. It's a Baby, and you can flip a coin for 30 (Smash Punch) with any Energy. Free retreat.
  • Cleffa (Genesis). This one is popular. It can't do damage, but you can use it to stall (it's a Baby) and to help get yourself the cards you need. Free retreat.
  • Wigglytuff (Jungle). If you use this, you'll want some Boost Energies. It's not as powerful as Sneasel, but the principle is similar. One retreat. You would have to basically base the deck around it.
  • Clefable (Jungle). An old favorite because of Metronome. With just one Energy, you can use any attack your opponent's Active has. Similar strategy to Ditto. One retreat. Would have to become the basis of the deck, more or less.
  • Unown N. Use if you're using Chansey or if you want to counter your opponent's, but keep it benched. Only put in one. One retreat.
  • Unown D. This one counters an opponent's Dark-type Pokemon the same way Unown N counters Colorless types -- by reducing the damage they do to your Pokemon by 30. Keep it benched. Only put in one. One retreat.
Now, back to the Trainers. First off, try to have approximately 15 Pokemon, 15 Energy, and 30 Trainers overall. Experience has shown me that this setup tends to create a more balanced deck. Now, specific ones to use.
[LIST]
  • Power Charge/Energy Charge. Especially helpful if you use a lot of Special Energies. They're practically the same card, but they count separately for deckbuilding purposes. Flip a coin to put two Energy cards from the discard back in your deck.
  • Item Finder. Very popular in Unlimited. Discard two cards to put a Trainer from the discard in your hand. Don't leave home without it. Put in at least two, preferably 3 or 4.
  • Oracle. This is from Skyridge, so it may be hard to find. Supporter. Search your deck for two cards, shuffle the rest, put the chosen two on top, any order. I like it, and it works well with Bill. Put in no more than 2.
  • Desert Shaman. Also a Supporter from Skyridge. Both players shuffle their hands into their decks, then draw up to 4 (less if they choose). I don't have this one, but it's been used on me. Put in 1-2 if you want them.
  • Copycat/Professor Oak's Research. Supporters. Choose one or the other. Each shuffles your hand into your deck. Copycat draws however many your opponent has in his hand, Oak's Research gives you 5. Put in 1-2 of one of them, if you want to.
  • Computer Search. Literally every deck I've played against (and my own) in Unlimited has this card. Discard two to search your deck for one and put it in your hand. You will want 3-4.
  • Gold Berry. Popular in Modified and Unlimited. Pokemon Tool. Attach to a Pokemon; when it has 4 or more damage counters, remove 4 and discard Gold Berry. You'll probably want about 2-3.
  • Focus Band. Another popular Trainer in Modified and Unlimited. Pokemon Tool. Attach to a Pokemon; if an attack (even your own) would KO it, flip a coin; heads, discard Focus Band and that Pokemon has 10 HP left. You'll want 2-4.
  • Town Volunteers. Popular Supporter. Get up to 5 total of Pokemon and/or Basic Energy from discard pile back in the deck. You might want 1-2.
  • Gust of Wind. This one should be familiar. You will probably want 2-3.

Every time I think I can't say anything stupider, I prove myself wrong. Maybe I should just stop thinking.

Wow! Thats some help! Thank You, I'll try to find some of those cards... But I don't use "Flip a Coin" cards so much because they can destroy the whole plan with just one tails (or heads). But there was some intresting ideas which I will probably check out. Thanks!
