It was inevitable ...and so I present...
Espeon Goes MMF Modified Modified Format
Pokemon: 18 4 Eevee (Discovery)(Promo is too weak in a format with such limited drawing power. Attach and evolve with heads is always a nice tool to have) 3 Espeon (Holo)(I dunno why I am using Espeon. Mabye it's cause it's really good against Pokes that abuse Energy...and MMF is chock full of those Pokes...) 1 Dark Vaporeon (Anti-Steelix tecH. Whirlpool away any Special Energy) 3 Mantine (Destiny)(I've seen 6 Arcy decks in the last day, why do you think he's here?) 3 Cleffa (Drawing Source, speed) 2 Mew (Promo)(Anti-Breeder card. Go from a Stage 2 to a Basic just like that...) 2 Pichu (Anti-Pokemon Powers, plenty of those in MMF still)
Energy: 18 10 Psychic (Fuel for Espeon/Mew) 6 Water (Fuel for Mantine) 2 Rainbow (Fuel for anyone)
Trainers: 24 4 Professor Elm (Primary Drawing source...whoa...=/) 4 Bill (Secondary Drawing source) 4 Focus Band (Help hang on against OHKOs) 4 Double Gust (Get rid of Mantine's attack effect, and choose their Pokes) 2 Balloon Berry (Retreat off Mantine's attack effect, anti-Status) 2 Magnifier (Yea, Espeon doesn't like Murkrow or Houndoom very much) 2 Time Capsule (Get back lost Energy or Pokes) 2 Energy Stadium (Default Stadium for any deck that plays 2 Energy types)
================================================== Strategy: Build up Espeon(s) with Eevee's Pokemon Power. Use Mantine for some quick energy damage, then get it to the Bench, rinse and repeat. Mantine deals heavy damage to the seemingly increasing amount of Fire decks in MMF (Entei/Cargo, Entei/Arcy, Typhlosion, Ninetails, etc). Espeon deals nice damage to high energy decks like, Ampharos, Big Fire, and plenty others. Mew is such a cool card in a Format where Pokemon Breeder will be played heavily. Taking a Stage 2 like Typhlosion to Cyndaquil just like that, that's a 50 HP loss, possibily resulting in a KO, or leaving them with a Cyndaquil, or forcing them to waste another Breeder. Dark Vaporeon is cool to use against Steelix, but if Fire keeps getting more popular, I dunno if it'll see much play, but nonetheless, Dark Vap is anti-Special Energy. I JUST made this deck, so it prolly is a little scatterbrained, any ideas are appreciated, especially since I haven't been doing very much MMF testing... ![[Confused]](confused.gif) [ May 20, 2002, 04:18 PM: Message edited by: Gymbo ]

once again, another good deck idea. u probably covered most of the problems and possible weaknesses of ur deck.
except possibly Dark Gengar, which is strong against Espeon and has no weakness to it. i dunno what to suggest against it, but unless u see Dark Gengar as extreme competition, ur current setup should do fine.

Yo Gymbo,
TTar666 - mine is here *sigh* all the "other" posts knocked it down w/out ONE reply...oh well, you guys just missed out on a great deck =\
So anyway gymbo, it's funny how espeon screws up a ton of MMF decks that need 4 energy to attack etc...that's 70 damage...which is solid with a FREE retreat.
And although I don't like the mainboarded mantine (for they throw a wrench is my K9 deck ), they look like they will REALLY work well.
I guess my question is why you stopped at 8 draw power cards. Like. Eight. What. were. you. thinking.???
I run 4/4/3/3/3/2 Elm/Bill/Teleporter/Mary/Cleffa/Trader =\ I like to be able to get what I want WHEN I need it...and like...I suggest at least 3 Mary in this deck.
A fix:
I'd drop both balloon berry, you can use DBG/Retreat fine for maneuvering, status, etc. (although scoop up could see play in this deck). Then I'd drop a time capsule, and use these three spots for 3 Mary, you NEED the sp33d
I have found through playtesting the format (which, surprisingly, I have done quite a bit of already) that only ONE time capsule is needed...2 ONLY in discarding decks *cough*fire*cough*. You only need it to get back retreated energy (which you can already via the stadium) or after some poke dies. So it is tech, really. Hope this helps!
BTW the d.vap is pwnage, nice touch And /me likes neo:d eevee way better, even in last format X\
Maybe you could check out my deck..probably day 2...or maybe you have, and hence the mantines (but then you wouldn't read it w/out postin right??? )

Hey guys, thanks for the posts.
TTar: Yea, you should really take a close look at how possibly annoying these new Arcy decks MAY become. I dunno about them myself. They look great on paper, but playtesting will be key...thanks for the compliment.
Strife: Yea, the whole Ghost family doesn't bother me that much. I mean it takes the Ghosts (both Dark and Fossil) three turns, and even still, I deal them each 60. Send up a Pichu or Mantine and watch it die. Thanks.
CrazyRandom: I used to play Promo Eevees in Modified Format. I don't like them in this format because, well there's like so few ways to come back if my Eevees are STKd by a Pichu. Plus, with Discovery, I can flip to search my deck, and evolve without "evolving conditions".
G-Man: Well, yea, glad ya like them Mantines . Threw them in there for you and you other Fire users out there. Thanks for the fix, I will get more drawing in there too. So here's my updated deck...
Espy Goes MMF Modified Modified Format
Pokemon: 18 4 Eevee (NDi) 3 Espeon (Holo) 1 Dark Vaporeon 3 Mantine (Destiny) 3 Cleffa 2 Mew (Promo) 2 Pichu
Energy: 18 10 Psychic 6 Water 2 Rainbow
Trainers: 24 4 Professor Elm 4 Bill 4 Focus Band 4 Double Gust 3 Bill's Teleporter 2 Magnifier 2 Energy Stadium 1 Time Capsule
Well, there it is...anything else? [ May 20, 2002, 04:30 PM: Message edited by: Gymbo ]
