Hi experts,
I'd like to start a discussion on the European Stadium Challenge, it will be interesting to see how players outside Europe can predict (in)/accurately both what will win in the groups and the metagaming or 'TeCH' strategies used, in the last major tournament as I know it on the planet with a Modified format that is TeamRocket-Neo Destiny.
I also would like to hear from people with advice for the Rochester Draft that will take place in the final rounds of the Professor tournament, I remember a SoCal player saying on these boards that they have tested the format to death - it'll be great to see advise and experience shared from both those players, and from others.
Thanks for contributing. -fK

Well...seeing as Feraligatr is 0wning in the US, I must say it will probably 0wn there as well in the modified format. A few other top decks that will show their faces will be crobat, dark tyranitar, and something with slowking in it.
Rochester Draft eh...have a good memory know what you chose and try to think of what got taken ...and try to go for all of one color. Don't get stage 2's unless you already have the basic and stage 1...I don't know what else to say =/
Have a good time. =/

Hi David, nice to hear from you.
Gatr is still the one to compare all other decks against, but is it still dominating the podium with all the EBellas, Dark Muks and Crobats running rampant? Is it down to the sheer speed of the beast and how reliable it is in tournaments over a few crucial rounds? I do wonder also why Big Fire isn't giving it a run for its money with the speed it can accomplish in such a short time.
Also, is it true that going for one colour in Rochester Draft is better than covering your weaknesses with two colours? You probably know more about this than I do (one normal Draft only under my belt of experience).
Thanks for adding your thoughts, -fK [ May 26, 2002, 11:44 PM: Message edited by: Freddy K ]

oh no no no no no.... never ever NOT cover your weakness in a draft. (or for that matter what you are resistant too either)
What we playtested to DEATH is the heroes/challenge draft... We KNOW what to pull what is good and all types of ROGUE decks, we've seen them...
Rochester is interesting. Players in PODS can choose to HELP each other PULL their neccessary cards or NOT and can spend the majority of times COUNTER-drafting each other.
When I ran my last draft... ONE pod decided to let each other pretty much pull what they needed (younger players), the OTHER spent most of the time counterdrafting (older players)
SORRY TO SAY but the older pod had a slight disadvantage over the other pod... they MADE top8 but the better decks were from the cooperative pod.
THIS was interesting. BUT there should be a large enough card pool THAT YOU should be able to TecH in that fire, electric, fighting, colorless, even psychic pokemon that would help cover your weakness.
WHAT you need to know is what pokemon CAN USE colorless energy. I HARDLY ever draft more than one color (heroes & challenge have a lot of NEAT colorless poke), BUT no more than 2, BUT never 3 AND if I do go for 2 colors I try to make sure they can use colorless energy... if not IT IS a matter of MATH to get the correct proportion of energy in the deck...
