Hmm... I suppose you could use a Recycle Energy. - Play Entei to the Bench
- Add Recycle Energy
- Next turn, add Fire Energy, discard Recycle.
- Next turn, add Recycle Energy.
- Next turn, add any non-fire energy, make it active, attack and Burn if possible.
- Next turn, if Defending Pokemon is Burned, retreat.
Eh, too much trouble. [ January 15, 2003, 02:51 PM: Message edited by: Orange Soda ]

...and we know that we need to have lame cards as well as good ones, and of course lame is also in the eye of the beholder. That said it is not a real viable competitive card... (He said as diplomatically as he could)
No Nick the power should read exactly as it does, unless you want the script to be so small that you can't read it. Makes sense the way it is. At least it did not confuse me.
Looks like it would work at first glance Freddy.

Or maybe you could use Aquapolis Electrode.
Union of the "meh" cards.
Edit: Nevermind. Forgot Electrode only worked with Lightning.
Perhaps e-Electabuzz instead? [ January 15, 2003, 03:41 PM: Message edited by: Orange Soda ]

Could you use rainbow on Entei, because it doesn't stand for a fire energy card just a fire energy?

I'm trying to not not-like this card. But its hard. I mean if it takes EXTRA Pokémon cards (like the aformentioned Electrode) just to NORMALLY attach energy to it, it kinda defeats the whole purpose.
My fix? Make the attack FFC, but do like 80 damage and burned with a coinflip. I mean you figure that without Muk, it'll take at least 5 turns to power it up, so you might as well make it worth doing.
Ruling question; what happens if your opponent has that Entei as their Active and you have a Ditto as your active, and... [DMTM and MTM piledrives Nick]
No seriously though, what would happen if you attach a Rainbow Energy card to that Entei? [ January 15, 2003, 04:37 PM: Message edited by: nick15 ]

Isn't it possibly playable..., even splashable if you use crystal energy? Like tech for a water deck that is weak against grass, so you attach 2 water energy, then crystal energy and attack, hoping to hit weakness. Maybe tech, but i don't exactly know how crystal energy reads...

simple- you just dont attach Fire engery from your hand to this guy ever. You attach (watter) and whatever else you want and eather (1) Fire Recharge... (2) Harvest Bounty ... (3) Convert the engery with Porygon2 (Oh will the converted Fire be discarded....oh my) (4) Combo it with that Togachick so that when you allready have a (watter) engery attached to it, you have to discard it to attach a (something from discard pile to it) then attach the Fire engery to it (discarding the other engery) then you could go insain.

Hmm... good one... Aqua-Entei and Rainbow. I suppose you wouldn't have to discard anythink since Rainbow is not a Fire Energy Card at that moment, but then, it does count as all types of Energy when in play, so you would have to discard...
Hmm ... Give some time... I'll figure it out!

Remember, the Power only limits your attaching FIRE Eergy, you can attach whatever else you want, since the attack only REQUIRES 1 Fire Energy. Just attach Recycle, then wait a turn or harvest Bounty a Fire Energy onto him... it'd be easy to power him up!

Nice art though.
I hope Raikou is in this set, I like him more ^_^
I think entei is decent, but the power really blows (fire )
why must they spoil the legendaries like this?
I have heard of the suicune, which seems to be a bit better in my opinion
I hope that Zapdos isnt the same as the translation

In my opinion, the best way to play the Entei would be to play Harvest Bounty, where you play a Fire and a Recycle on one turn, discarding the recycle, then getting it back, then the next turn playing 2 non-fire energy... or just not using this card

Why not use the E- Amphy with Entei. It says from your hand. Attache energy to a benche poke and then move it up. Plus Amphy covers Entei's weakness. I see Amphy Running with some BBP in the future. Best Buzz, Legendaries. Seems Logical to me.

I believe if we attached Rainbow to the Entei, we don't have to discard any energy card by the power.
The Power say "To attach a Fire Energy card from your hand". This should mean when the Energy Card pull from the hand (before attach), it is a Fire Energy Card.
Rainbow only count as Fire AFTER it is attached, so it should not be affected by the Power.
So this Entei can be Fire up in 3 turns without discard any energy card due to the power.
One of the use of this Entei is in the early game, drop some energy cards to the discard pile for some Energy absort type attack/power. When I play my Typlosion Fire Recharge. I found that even I can bring out the Typlosion by the 2nd or 3rd turn, there are always no Fire energy card in the discard pile to use the Fire Recharge power. This Entei seem can help in this case.

DOMCGI is correct about Rainbow, though I maintain that Comboing Entei with the Burning energy power is an effective way of discouraging Muk (as long as you have some real fire in the deck).

You could combo it with LC Venusaur. Use Energy draw to bring out the Grass Energies, then use Energy Transfer.

Sadly that is a true statement. Several cards fall into that catagory. The good news: its getting better for Sudowoodo. In fact, the only thing really hurting this one is that its HP is about 10 to 20 points too low. The others suffered a similar problem. At least the retreat is better, and it oucld actually be useful in certain Expedition Alakazam decks: send it up front and have it fish out the energy it needs to copy the defenders attacks, then when it gets KO'ed, Kadabra can use its first attack to gear up for Alakzam. Just another 10 to 20 HP...

It took me several minutes to think up a way to use this Sudowoodo. I came up with this:
It's good in a completely anti-metagame deck. I'll use an Encargo deck as the opponent for this example. Attach a Rainbow Energy first turn and Energy Draw for a Fire. On turn two you can attach another Fire on Sudo. Problem is, if you won the coin flip, the Magcargo isn't out yet, so you need to Switch Sudowoodo out for a baby or something with a Focus Band (or a baby with a Focus?) that can possibly survive a hit from Magcargo. (Pray they don't have a Double Gust..) Third turn, retreat for Sudowoodo, who can now Lava Flow with Copy. Discard your two Fires and Magcargo is gone.
If you lose the flip to start the game, though, you need to keep your sacrificial baby out first turn while you charge up Sudowoodo the old fashioned way.
Either way, it's probably not worth the effort and you might as well make a deck with a strategy other than "copy whatever the opponent is doing".
...Oh well, I tried! =)
