With ranbow energy can you change it to a special energy? [Confused]

You can use it as darkness and metal, however, you do not get the non-energy effects of thos cards.

One thing I'd like to clarify is that Rainbow energy always is every kind of energy. You do not have to change it, or call out what it is. It always provides all energy types including Metal and Dark along with colorless, psychic, fighting, lightning, water, grass, fire, Did I name them all? Hope this helps to clarify.

TTT is correct except for Colorless Energy. All of the other types are Basic energy types. Colorless in not. Rainbow can, of course, be used to pay a colorless cost, just as any other color energy could be used.

To elaborate on what 'Pop said, the words "color" and "type" are fairly interchangeable in the Pokemon TCG, thus, colorless energy can be thought of as typeless energy.
