This is an attempt to clear up a situation for a friend. We know that Paralyzed, Asleep and Confused cancel each other -- ie. a Pokemon that is asleep can be attacked, made confused, and it is no longer asleep. On the other hand, a Pokemon that is confused can be poisoned OR burned the next turn but still remain confused. So what is the relationship of Poisoned and Burned?

So far, I'm leaning towards the Pokemon being both Poisoned and Burned. It's not in The Compendium, nor directly in the Advanced Rules. Anyone have a definative answer?

You may be poisoned and burned at the same time.

A PKMN can be poisoned along with any other special condition. I believe all the others cancel each other out. I'm sure about this with sleep, confusion & paralysis. Burn, I'm pretty sure about. But the unique one, Char, I'm not sure.

A little help here anyone?

A Pokemon can be burned, poisoned and then either asleep, confused, or paralyzed. Char is not a special condition and is not replaced by any of them.

So a Pokemon could be, say, Poisoned, Charred, Burned, and Confused, all at the same time? Ouch!

Ya sure.Several special conditions & effects can be deadly. For example:

  1. You poisoned.10 damage.
  2. You burned & flip a tail.20 damage.
  3. You Chared.Also flip a coin.Flip tail.20 damage.
  4. You confused.Try to attack.Flip tails.Hit yourself 20 damage.
So,if you're unlucky,70 damage to you! This does not include the damage your opponent does.

Add in something like double or triple poison instead of plain old poison and you have a really deadly combo!
Triple poison--30 damage
Burned, flip is tails--20 damage
Charred, flip is tails--20 damage
Confused, attack attempt is tails--20 damage
Total damage--90!
Like I said, ouch!
