As a somewhat seasoned player in this fine game of Pokemon I have noticed that opinions on cards tend to vary from person to person. The cards that some find to be purely god-like others find to be nothing more than paper with cute pictures (or ugly ones for that matter). The cards that others find to be worthless and not worth even glancing at others find to be worth housing in saran wrap for life. But some cards are controversial in that they are given a bad rap that sometimes they just don't deserve and I'm here to openly discuss and defend one of those cards.

Erika is one of the sweetest and most adorable trainers on the cartoon and her trainer card is equally giving, giving you and your opponent an up to 3 card advantage. The Gym Heroes trainer card brought forth the creation of the Trap combo which was used in numerous decks of the unlimited and former modified format. But much to my surprise, this card I have loved since it came out is hated and scorned by many.

Many people complain about giving your opponent 3 cards as well but I had read in many a guidebook and I firmly believe if your deck is good enough that advantage shouldn't matter much. If your deck is that well made and that playable, weakness, resistance or a few extra cards shouldn't put that big a wrench in your plans now is it. Also I've had some instances where people either a) don't want to risk decking themselves so they don't draw the cards or b) they know dang well you got an IOR waiting for them so they don't do it anyway.

Then you get those that despise combos, several card reviewers on Pokemon sites complained that combos were a thing of the past and to depend on them was certain doom in tourneys. In response to those comments, I increased my numbers of Rocket's Trap, Rocket's Sneak Attack and Imposter Oak's Revenge to 4 [Smile] The Trap was a formidable way to get rid of advantage and I don't think it deserved half the flack that it got in the current environment.

And not to mention the final reason I love Erika, 3 is greater than 2 and 2 is what Bill gives you. Leave it to a girl to provide more assistance then a male trainer card would haha...oh wait, Oak and Elm are guys too...whoops! But anyways, I love this card and you guys should too so just use it with some of the other Trap cards and see how it fun it could be. You might be surprised how much you like it and how Bill's work nicely as wallpaper in a crunch...Hope to hear from you guys soon! [ROFL] BLG

You wern't refering to me when you said some card reviewers said combos were a thing of the past were you [Razz] ?

Erica is a pretty good trainer. it combos up good with IOR or RSA. Personally, I think you're right. The only problemis that it's not playale in Modified.

I love the Erika card! She's also a good character on the cartoon, but that's something different (lol). People do critisize about the up to 3 cards for your opponent, but if your deck is strong enough, it can take it. It would so be in my water deck, but Erika isn't playable in the current modified. Unfortunetly, Cleffa and Professor elm brought a decline to it's use i've found. Oak's Research will most likely spell doom to this card for most of the people still playing it [Frown]

you rock!! I always have 4 Erica in my deck, although now I'm starting to run 4 Mary's Inpulse (I call it Ficklenss because that was the orginal name...) But I think Erica is awsome, both as a card, and as a trainer. Whenever people play me, they never know if I'm running a decking deck or not (because I like to do it offen) so when I play Erica, they fear the draw, and if not- pay the price [Big Grin]
Yay for Erica, and Computer Error. Both now unplayable in Motafied... well still got Mary's Fickleness- the other Mary can stay in the binder!! heh.

Erica total 24, thats right, 24.
Dunsprace total 41.
I've gotten 98 on that Machoke at work game. I beat Driving Corasola.
I almost beat the record in Hold Down hip hop. I got 2000 or so in Kinglers day. I got 7 in Rapadash's dash. Butterfree's Flower Power 4700. 123 In Jumping Dodoro. My all foil deck is finished.

With all do respect TR Shadow I can't say if you were the deck fixer I mentioned in my original posting, simply put if you made that comment and I happened to read it then yes I was speaking of you. So in the words of the FBI, "I can neither confirm nor deny that statement."

It's amazing that people are agreeing with me on this card and it's potential it's just a shame that more people don't use it like I said. I am still waiting for some naysayers to come on and try and say why they don't like Erika but I love the positive feedback guys, so thanks a bunch and keep it coming! BLG
