I like to play 8 card-drawing. Not searching, card-drawing. If your not using Elm then they are probably all gonna be Supporters. That means when you need that card to win the game, you have one card drawing chance at it. If you use Elm then you have another chance at that one card for that turn if you draw Elm. That's adding to the chances of drawing something that can get Scizor, Boost nrg etc. That is often the difference. You need Elm because you can't only use supporters & Bill is a net gain of 1. Finally, the only thing that can get 7 cards besides Elm is Copycat & that is a supporter. What are you gonna do when you copycat & draw copycat? Nothing. What are you gonna do when you copycat & draw Elm? Your gonna draw 7 more cards & have another chance. If you play Gatr/Sect then Juggler is a better supporter than Copycat. Same thing with Desert Shaman for Noctowls, Crobats, & Pidgeots. But you need Supporters and something to follow it. There are many acceptable Supporters but just Elm for non-supporters.

LOL Prime, yeah I do see the outside. But for me, I don't really play pokemon much until a couple of months before a MAJOR event... so I had to playtest a lot to get used to the format and the decks in it. I probably played games about 4 hours a day... from like 7pm to 11pm every night. Yeah now that I look at it... wow I'm a freak... ;x

Otaku, I wasn't assuming anything. I was just saying in theory if you play 4 CC/3 Oracle/3 Bill. =P

Yeah this is an interesting discussion. Mind you, if Nintendo makes the format just their cards, we'll be scrapping for card power instead of debating which to use =P

Which btw, what do you guys see being useful in Nintendo's set trainer wise? I've been working on a Scyther EX/Sceptile deck (not that good -_-) with like Birch, and thats it.

Actually, I like Birch, PokeNav, Nosepass, and Delcatty. Not the greatest, but far from the worst.

Pidgeotto Trainer: I am usually draing for a Trainer, like Focus Band or Double Gust, so Elm doesn't help much.

Both Sceptile would work well with Harvest Bounty, the one with Energy Trans would help by tranferring al lthe energy to Scyther EX, attacking, then next turn, move it all off of Scyther an use Pokemon Nurse or something and put the Energy back on

(then again, you could just use the Venusaur with Energy Tras too, it'd make the deck simpler...)

Hmm for drawing, I love Linoone. It has a great first attack(built in oracle and bill) for one colorless! and then the second attack that is awesome(flip a coin till you get tails and it does 40 for each heads) for only 2 colorless energy! I am making a deck with that and a few other pokemon. I like Birch kinda. You have to have a low hand to use it effectively, and it IS a supporter, so I rather play juggler, or copycat, or something better. If Nintendo uses only their cards, sure, toss in a few, like one or two. There are alot more draw cards in this set too. I mean in pokemon. Nosepass is nice too, but it does no damage at all, but can put a pokemon back into your opponent's hand. Its alright.

I love sceptile, both of them.

Believe it or not, it is according to the tournament winners I have seen. Long as you don't push it. Two works perfectly. [Wink]
