I haven't seen any rulings on the SKY Machamp's attack "Push Off" yet and the responses from the PROFESSOR-L are not happening, so I have a question and more may come for his topic.
Based on the attack, it appears to be the similar effect as the "Pull-In" rulings.
Therefore, my first question/confirmation for Push Off is: If you have Machmamp Active, using the attack against a damaged and benched Jumpluff, can you bring him up to the Active slot and damage it 20 without having the apponent flip for "Fluff"?
The "Pull-In" rulling states that the attack is still directed at the Active Pokemon, so you could Pull In Jumpluff and damage it without the flip.
Question #2: On the "Pull-In" ruling; if your oponent has a Holo Suicune Active, your Dk. Gengar can't Pull In a Pokemon from the bench, but you can still damage the Suicune for 30. With "Push-Off" can you do the same? The wording is a bit different and it states that if the opponent doesn't have a Pokemon on the bench, to ignore the effect. Well, what if they do, but they have Suicune up. I'm assuming you can still do 20 damage to Suicune.
Can anyone answer these? Thanks. [ June 09, 2003, 06:55 AM: Message edited by: HollowDragonMaster ]

1) No Jumpluff still gets to flip for Fluff. The attack while going through the Active effects the Benched Jumpluff, who's Poké-Body allows a flip to cancel effects of attacks, including damage. Since bringing it from the Bench to the Active position is an effect, Jumpluff gets to flip.
2) You can still damage Suicune but since the movement is an effect of the attack, you cannot force Suicune with a working Crystal Body to go to the Bench (nor Drag Off one from the Bench unless you Gazed it first with Igglybuff). Same for Skyridge Machamp.

Sorry don't understand what you are asking. If a Baby is on the Bench and a non-prevent-all-effects-of-attack Pokémon is Active, the Baby can be Push Offed by Machamp without flipping for the Baby Rule. THe Baby Rule states that the Baby must be Active for the Baby Rule to work.

That seems a bit Bias to me. The effect is in- fact the same as pull-in and the attack( as far as Jumpluff is concerned) is still directed to the "Active" Pokemon - so I think this is contraditive to many other rulings, as well as "Feint Attack". Hmmm..... =/

from the compendium.... quote: Q. Dark Gengar's Pull-In - If a benched Jumpluff is the target of Pull In, if I flip for Fluff and get heads, what happens? A. The attack is still directed at the active Poké so it would work. (Feb 13, 2003 WotC Chat, Q967)
and from the oracle quote:
{P}{P}{P} Pull In If your opponent has any Benched Pokémon, you may choose 1 of them and switch it with the Defending Pokémon (before doing damage or other effects of this attack). Either way, the Defending Pokémon is now Asleep. 30
So presumably by it would work what is meant is that the 30 damage is still done to the active which is also now asleep. Fluff was successful in blocking the part of the attack that tried to pull Jumpluff in but cannot stop other effects of the attack that are not directed at Jumpluff.
Curiously Edo's translation of Fluff just has it prevent damage. So in that case you can pull Jumpluff In on a heads flip, but it doesn't take any damage. The newly active Jumpluff would then fall asleep. But that isn't the WotC translation.... remember this is how our MTs view Fluff..
quote: darkmt_mike presents the speaker with question #977 from firetrainer:Does Fluff prevent Feraligatr Riptide from shuffling the water Energy back into the deck? darkmt_mike says, "No. It just prevents all effects of attacks done to Jumpluff." master_trainer_mike says, "Like Suicune did."
