Ok, what happens when Chaos Gym is in play and someone tries to use a Supporter but flips tails?
Are Supporters put into play (yes, I assume)? If so, your opponent can't use them if you flip tails.

Correct your opponent can't use your Supporters.
From The Compendium's Chat log of 10/03:
quote: master_trainer_mike presents the speaker with question #43 from calathon:A Supporter has to be used immediately upon being played, correct? The "if you don't use it" phrasing is only for things like Chaos Gym, right? master_trainer_mike says, "Fisrt part of the answer is that Japan does not want you to play Gym cards with e-cards. They even asked us to not let you use Genesis with e-cards because they consider them to be digfferent games or different parts of the game." master_trainer_mike says, "BUT obviously our markets are differemt." master_trainer_mike says, "We will have to say that on a failed Chaos Gym flip, the opponent could NOT use a supporter card (as it goes into play, to mark that a supporter was used)." master_trainer_mike says, "They would not put it next to their active Pokemon as you never take another player's cards." master_trainer_mike says, "So on a failed Chaos Gym flip, a supporter would just be discarded." master_trainer_mike says, "So you could still try and use another supporter since the first one was never played."

Another similar question: If you have your Chaos Gym, flip tails, and your opponent DOES use the Supporter.....
* Could you use another supporter since YOU didn't get to use it? * Where does the used Supporter go? If discarded, does that mean your opponent could use supporters again? If not discarded, where would it be placed (considering your opponent can't use your games in this game)?
If however you DID flip a head on the Chaos Gym flip, I assume that you can't play ANOTHER one despite that your opponent may have a chance of using it?

Opponents can't use supporters via Chaos Gym Nick.

This part of nick's question can be answered. If you try to use a Supporter, and are unsuccessful because of a Chaos Gym, you can try to use another Supporter on the same turn. The "can't use another" phrase doesn't come into play since you didn't actually get to use the first one.

Thanks BJJ for the chat log quote. I guess this ruling hasn't made its way into the Compendium yet (that's why I asked). Thanks for verifying this DMTM.

For you non-Professors, here's the latest:
quote:
Q: I try to play a supporter, and flip tails. My opponent uses it.
A: Yes, this is possible. Your opponent would place the supporter near their Active Pokemon (we would suggest either in the middle or put a marker on it so you know it is YOUR supporter and not theirs) if they chose to use it.
This is a reversal and clarification of what we said on last week's chat btw. Supporter's do NOT come into play. They are simply put on the table to denote that a supporter was already played this turn. Otherwise they function like other Trainers.
Q: I try to play a supporter again... now my question is, is this even legal?
A: Yes it is, as you have not succesfully played a supporter yet this turn. This is just like trying to play Professor Elm again in this situation.
Q: And second of all, if it is, and I get tails, can my opponent use it?
A: They could not. A Supporter card says you can only play one per turn. If your opponent uses it (due to the Chaos Gym) they will have placed that supporter out to mark that they already played one this turn.

Yup, I just got the news. I assume the reversal happened because Supporters don't actually come into play. They're just placed next to the active Pokemon to mark that a Supporter has already been played that turn (kind of like a temporary discard pile location). [makes a Ooo Ooo sound like a train horn]
So things work like always with Chaos Gym (in a certain sense). Good times.
