Ok.. last a few friends and I were testing decks and we all read Bounce energy and came to the same conclusion which we want to know what some of you think... The text says you can attach bounce energy to a pokemon with a basic energy attached. If you do, return the basic to your hand.
Now for the question, it says you can not that you have to. So can't bounce energy be attached to any pokemon regardless if Basic energy is attached?? The only catch if Basic energy is attached, you have to put 1 basic back in your hand. So there is some food for thought... we know the intention of the card, but the text can be interpreted in 2 different unique ways. Thanks in advanced for any input and thoughts on this!!

Looks like an "only" has been dropped. The second sentence states "When you play this card from your hand and attach it to 1 of your Pokémon, return a basic Energy card attached to that Pokémon to your hand." The second sentence gives you no leeway - you have to return a basic Energy card to your hand. No basic Energy means you cannot attach.

Look here and you'll see a topic named (strangely enough) "Bounce Energy Text??", where I alluded to the recent WotC weekly chat ruling that did confirm the word "only" should have been included, to make the card text read "you can [only] attach bounce energy to a pokemon with a basic energy attached" (which, of course, burst our bubble of a new DCE!!!)
