You wanted it you know you did, the offical rulling for Crystal and Porygon2. What am I talking about? Well, you convert that basic grass engery into a Dark engery. What does Crystal become? Well, looking back on a post I did regarding Porygon2, it looks like the rulling for Porygon2 was that if you made any engery something else, it retaned its orginal state, now that was for Ho-oh, see, you could make the grass dark but ho-oh would not do +10 dammage for it because it was still a basic (grass) that now provided darkness. (strange rulling eh?) anyrate, this gave me what I called "Floating Engery".
Now you've got Crystal Engery that providex "X" where "X" = what you have attached thats basic.
So what happens when you convert that basic.
Well, it would be a (grass) providing (dark) and since crystal would have to copy what the engery really is... right? so you would have grass and dark engery on that pokmon (as well as the floating grass)
Well, whats your oppion?

After I look at the Pokeschool Porygoon 2 card scans, the Pokemonlabs article "How Energy card works" & Pojo's Pokemon Card of the day,I finally come up with the following ruling:
quote: Crystal Energy provides 1 energy of all types (colors) of Basic Energycards attached to the Pokémon Crystal Energy is attached to. If there are no Basic Energy cards attached to the Pokémon Crystal Energy is attached to, Crystal Energy provides 1 Colorless Energy.
Crystal energy can provide only ONE energy at a time,& it can provide various basic colors. If the Pokemon that basic energy is attached to has no basic energy attach to it,
Porygon2 can't convert Special Energy,so it can't touch your Crystal Energy.Ho-oh's Rainbow Burn is count each BASIC ENERGY CARD ,so Rainbow Burn does not do extra damage for the each Crystal Energy you mentioned.
If you still not understand check How Energy Cards Work on PokeLabs
If everyone not sure bring it on chat.

Porygon3: Well, based on the MTs ruling, I think, in your example, Crystal Energy would provide Grass Energy.
While Porygon2 has converted the Grass to provide Darkness, it is still a "basic Grass Energy card" and therefore, that is what the Crystal Energy would key off of.
While I don't necessarily agree with the ruling, it's important to understand it and apply it properly because it is the official way to play it.

I concur with 'Pop. The original state would be copied. Might help with Shining pokemon. Might.

I think it would help with Shinings in this instance.
We'll use S. TTar
First attack is Mountain Crsuh using DFF. With Porygon2 on the bench, You can attach 1 F and 2 Crystal. Porygon2 Makes the Fighting D but you still have the 2 Crystal providing the fighting.
Same would be true for any of the other Shining. IMO, Porygon2 has been given new life with the Crystal Energy...Imagine finally using all of those Shining POke in 1 Deck with P2,Crystal energy, Energy Charge....Could be fun!!

once again someone thinks I was refering to converting specal engery with porygon2. sigh.
Regarding the other replys, well, yeah- but that still doesnt answer what you do with the Grass engery that the engery card no longer "counts" as since its providing a "Dark" engery.
(goes insain) Well, anyrate I forsee our league not doing these rullings regardless as I would twist the reality of engery in ways that the one running the tourment would not like.
Go floating engery. Still.
