Unlike other cards that allow you to de-evolve your Pokemon, Undersea Ruins does not state you cannot evolve the Poke the turn it was de-evolved. Is this like an auto DUH! or can I actually de-evovle, then re-evolve the same Poke on the same turn

IMO, you still can evolve a Pokemon after you devolve it in this case, since it doesn't say otherwise.

Every time I think I can't say anything stupider, I prove myself wrong. Maybe I should just stop thinking.

It will be interesting to see what the official ruling is on this one, but since the card says to discard the Evelution, nothing about Devolution, I think you could turn around and Evolve that Pokemon again. This might create a few interesting strategies if the ruling goes this way. I would also assume that by discarding the Evolution you would remove status effects as well.

There is a chance however, that discarding the Evolution will be considered Devolution, which would keep you from Evolving. if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck ... [Wink]

i smell the rise of crobat

I was at this heavy rock concert and the lead singer came out and asked "how many of you feel like human beings?" then he asked "Now how many of you feel like animals!?" and everyone cheered. I didn't know there was a second part to the question, so I applauded for the 1st part. "Yes I do feel like a human, I do not feel like a tree."

actually at the very bottom of the card, it says the Poke devovles... but every other card that devolves says this counts as evolving, and you cannot evolve again this turn, thats why I wondered if the Ruins stadium would be ruled like this, or since the text is not there it can work in this fashoin.

you can evolve the pokemon you devolved as long as you allready did not evolve that pokemon that turn, as stated in the rull book (go ahead someone point out that the rull book is worthless again...) you may only evolve a pokemon once, unless you do a power or attack to do so again.

My question would have been... what happenes when you undersea ruins a Shapeshifted Brocks Ninetails...

Well, I'm not sure about Undersea Ruins, until we ask for an official ruling, but in the Case of Devolution Syray, we already have a ruling, and you cannot evolve after using it. Here is the reference from the Compendium:

quote:
*Now for Devolution Spray. Devolving a Pokémon DOES count as evolving it (again, a reversal on a previous ruling). This means that if you use Devolution Spray on one of your Pokémon you CANNOT evolve it again on that same turn. Sorry if these rule changes are confusing. It just shows again, how nothing is set in stone when it comes to Pokémon. (May 18, 2000 WotC Chat Announcements)

Q. Can I use Devolution Spray (trainer) on a Pokémon that I evolved on that same turn? For example, I evolve to Muk to turn off Dark Vileplume's "Hay Fever", play all the trainer cards I want, and finally use DevoSpray on the Muk at the end.

A. Yes you could do that. [The text on the card that says] it would count as evolving means you could not then evolve a Pokémon you Devolved that turn. It is NOT Evolving so you can play it after Evolving. It just counts as it for the sake of figuring other rules. Confusing I know. (Oct 19, 2000 WotC Chat, Q38 & Q86)

Pokemon, the game where normal rules of logic do not always apply! [Big Grin]

Well I hope someone will ask and post it here, or at least ask so I can read chat log or new conpendium rules. Here is the text in exact wording from the card

Undersea Ruins (Stadium Card) this card stays in play ... yadayada/stadium text... Once during each players turn(before attacking), that player may flip a coin. If heads that player chooses 1 of his or her Evolved Pokemon in play and discards the top Evolution card from that Pokemon, DEVOLVING it.

So if it says it devolves it, then I guess no re-evolving can happen. well, that hurts my deck a little, but not to much, I was hoping to use this to get an extra flip for Nidoking. No biggie, it is mostly here so I can devolve him then retreat for 1 recycle.
