I have a Base Set Raichu first in play as my active, with a Smeargle on the bench, and Raichu does Thunder, and next turn I retreat Raichu, and put a Smeargle in play, with 2 Lightning Energy attached, does Thunder with tails. Who do I do damage to? It says "Raichu does 30 damage to itself." Does that mean do it to Raichu, even though Smeargle executed the attack? This is one out of a lot of confusing examples of self damage with Smeargle. Is this right? Help me!! g8tr ![[Devilish]](../tcg/graemlins/diablo.gif) [ January 18, 2003, 07:09 PM: Message edited by: g8trboi77 ]

Your example would not work.
SMEARGLE copies YOUR opponent's last attack SO LONG as the pokemon that attack remains as the ACTIVE Pokemon.
If you do as you described Smeargle would only be able to copy what your opponent did last.
BTW, when an attack has a self-referencing phrase (raichu does...) replace Raichu with Smeargle (or the pokemon 'metronoming', copying, the attack. [ January 18, 2003, 07:14 PM: Message edited by: IPGeek21 ]
