we had this in the SBZ today... If Starmie uses core blast on a Expedition tyranitar w/ 4 psychic energies attached, would it do 30+ the 4 enegries or not? I'm not sure if they turn into special energies by it's power...

It'd just do 30. The cards are still basic energy cards.

Dark Aura, or any other Power/Body that changes a basic energy into anonther basic energy type is still only a basic energy. Core Blast only does Extra damage if the Pokemon has Special Energy cards. The type of energy the card provides does not change a basic or special energy card into the oppisite type of energy card.
