Just a question. in a tournament, are there restrictions on the cards that can be used? i.e. could i use the base set cards in the most recent tourneys?

or are there like type 1/type 2 in magic?

unlimited, no restrictions. Modified is Neo to current sets, excluding Neo Genesis Sneasel and Neo Genesis Slowking.

Don't forget the "Previously Printed" rule: if a card from an older set was re-released in the domain of legal cards (for example in Modified, if a card from "Base Set" is a Promo card 21+, in the Best series, or in any of the legal sets, including Legendary Collection), you may use either the new or old version.

Yes, there is something like that: I don't know enough of Magic to tell you which relates to what though, sorry. [Razz] For Pokemon we have Unlimited, which allows any cards from any set currently relased in the U.S., and all promos except Happy Birthday Pikachu, Ancient Mew and Jumbo cards.

Modified is composed of cards from Neo Genesis (except this Sneasel and Slowking), Neo Discovery, Neo Revalation, Neo Destiny, Southern Islands, Legendery Collection, Expedition, Aquapolis, Best of Play Promos, and Blackstar Promos #21+ except for Happy Birthday Pikachu and Ancient Mew (and anyhting over-sized). Any previous printings of these cards are legal. So you can use Base Set Charizard as it was reprinted in the Legendery Collection.
