Hey
It's been a while

I got a question.
When I wish to retreat my active pokemon and there is a Mirage Stadium card out in play, do I discard my energy first, before I flip (like being confused) or do I discard the proper energy after I flip (if sucsessful)?

Thanks

It says right on the card that you only discard after a successful flip.

For some odd reason they ruled this one funny

You flip for what is on your side of the feild first.......... so the scenerios are

You flip for Confusion check or Stadium first, your choice if you control stadium

If your Opponent controls it, you flip for confusion, then the stadium.

Either way if you fail on the stadium, you do not discard.

not true, for confusion you discard before flipping, so if you get heads on Mirage after that you discard twice the energy.

have a look here

http://archivedboards.wizards.com/tcg-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb =get_topic;f=76;t=003906 for the previous discussion on this card.

Currently they efects are sequenced: Mirage First, then Confusion. but it could change again [Razz]

Q. Since Mirage Stadium's effect takes place before energy is discarded, and the confusion retreat flip happens after energy is discarded, shouldn't you always flip for Mirage Stadium first when trying to retreat?
A. Yes, that is correct. We are clarifying it. Mirage stadium states checking before removing energy, Confusion states checking after. (Jun 19, 2003 WotC Chat, Q2030 & Q2045)

It won't change again.

Unless PUSA plans on reruling on old card sets.
Not likely.
