Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

2009 Modified Format announced!

since DP came out, this is what i've been focused on and ready for.

for the first time in quite a while i have very comprehensive knowledge/experience of the entire format.

There'd better be some amazing supporters coming out soon. Wouldn't mind seeing some new energies being printed too. They might be made so that you can't attach them to Lvl. Xs, who knows?

BUT, while y'all are celebrating the death of GG, I am still contemplating its viability.
True, it no longer can abuse DRE and Scramble BUT neither can any other deck. The Gardy/Gallade pokemon line is still an amazing group of Pokemon and their powers and attacks will still be above average. I still think GG has a chance, but we will see.

You're making my point for me.

Of course GG will remain viable, but won't be nearly as fast. Same with any other deck that abuses DRE/Scramble.

That alone is a major shift in the format, IMO.

Prime, wouldn't it be more helpful to know what Trainers and Energy we have left?

Okay...

It was nice for someone to take the time to do that list. Thanks Prime!:thumb:

For trainers, we don't lose anything major, but we lose lots of little cards that mixed in.
As for energy, GOOD-BYE DRE!:clap: That alone will shake up the format.

Well...we all saw this coming, right? No more "ex's" to use in our tourney decks. But we've already created decks that don't rely on the past sets, huh?

The loss of DRE reduces everything that's fast to under-costed attacks and NRG Accel. Which is hilarious, because unless I missed something, the only DP-on card that can stop a T1-2 Togekiss is Alakazam.

Kisskiss FTW.

Edit: NVM, you could also bench a Mesprit to kill Poke-Powers for a turn. Ew.

:frown: man, all the EX's have to be gone. Flygon, Exploud, and Absol EX are gone and all the others. But my favorite was EX FireRed&LeafGreen. But at least everything gets a refreshing start, experiancing how the old cards came to the EX series.

ummm..I don't get it, why would G&G be going out? They are perfectly legal....from Secret Wonders.

Maybe in DP6 we'll get cards like Cynthia's Advice(steven's advice), Crystal Plate(crystal shard), and Desert Survivor(castaway).

Methinks that Leafeon lvX and Typhlosion will be the dominant setup decks in the next format, with Gardy being a close third.

I also think that T2 style decks will be stronger than the setup decks initially (Blissey varients, anybody?)

Do I smell Togekiss/Blissey?
