Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

DRE and Scramble

At this moment it seems that there is no reprint of DRE/Scramble in any sets so far (LA/IFIDS) and its probably better if it stays that way. DRE and Scramble would push a couple select *cough GG cough* decks to the top that the format would return to staleness.

Unless they get snuck in at POP8 (Doubtable as it seems, Liesik said that most would be reprints with a few snuck in.)

I don't see a return of DRE, nor do I want one. Scramble is tolerable as its a come from behind card.

Actually, Liesik said there would be no Ex-set reprints.

They will never reprint DRE or Scramble, as far as I see it. The Ex handicap is gone on those cards, so what drawback would there be?

I heard there were going to make a NEW set of EXs Next format, maybe they reprint those, I hope not! Well, Scramble is Welcomed back!

Where on Earth did you hear that? I don't care, I think DRE and Scramble made decks unoriginal, and Pokemon Ex made it so you had to be rich to win anything. Good riddance. I hated the Ex series.

I agree with you, yoyo! A few of the Poke Professors I know, were telling me about this. I doubt there is any TRUTH behind it, but who knows besides the company. I would HATE to see EXs back myself, eventhough I never really got to experience them as play, but 2 Prizes??? Cressy X would have a Field day on those, lol! The EXs are for the wealthy, I like just Normal Lv. Xs, which are Expensive too!

They were sure easier to get though. =)

Can't be attached to basics =) That's a drawback. But however it goes. I would like to see something of the sort come back. It's boring having no comeback with no energy in play.

DRE and Scramble made slow pokemon playable. Now all slow pokemon will become useless.

Who will play a pokemon than needs 4 energy to attack without any energy acceleration?

Yea like you dont need around 25-40 to get good Level Xs. Ex series was great cause you just couldnt throw them around or you would lose. The game was real fast paced. Also we had alot of good non ex decks during that time( Raieggs-Metanite(base)-Jynxfett-Liability-etc) .

In theory they could reprint either or both without the no ex clause like they did with Great Ball. Its no different.

If they reprinted them, then they just would be reprinted. People would start back playing GG of course, but when Intense drops, you can call any GG version left scrap cause it would be useless even tho everything is going to be power heavy.

The ex-series were much better then this format, in the ex series we didn't had one deck totally dominating the format like G&G.

Skittles anyone?

There will be other ways to accelerate.

For sure Powers will do what they've pretty much always done: help you set up. The problem is... How easy to use are they? Can you use a power out of nowhere to come back from being beat down? Almost all the options are Stage 2s, or eat up your attack for the turn. You don't get the reliability of using only a single card to speed your set up; now it'll take at minimum 4 cards to equate what 1 would have earlier.

Not to mention Double Rainbow sets up a LOT of flexibility in decks due to its flexibility. Being able to provide any color takes a lot of the stress off of multi-type requiring decks. Now that the ONLY way to provide rainbow color is going to be Multi Energy (which isn't stackable), energy's going to be a lot more painful to manage. ...Sounds like it's time to break out those Energy Searchs so your Gallade has a chance to Sonic Blade :/

In case it's not painfully obvious, I feel a lack of energies like Double Rainbow is... Going to be bad for most decks. The thing is, we need new restrictions on those cards, since clearly a basic exclusion and damage reduction isn't enough to dissuade people from those trump cards. Double Rainbow's requirements made a LOT of sense in EX era, where a lot of decks ran EXs and there needed to be an advantage for thinking outside the box. What can they do to help people going against the flow now? Hm...

"If the pokémon this card attached to levels up, discard this card. If this card is attached to Pokémon Lv.X, discard it"

I'd LOVE to know where you heard that. =/

Don't count on DRE and Scramble being reprinted. I honestly don't want to see DRE again after this season. Scramble would be fine by me, but Double is just too much, it made Plox what it is: A speedy disruption with brutal power type of deck.

Maybe they sgould reprint some new energy that count more than 1, but then balance them.

Or make an energy that can only be attached to stage 2 pokemon(excluding Lv.X)

You don't know what you are talking about exs were ah-mazing

"If the pokémon this card attached to levels up, discard this card. If this card is attached to Pokémon Lv.X, discard it"

Then it wouldn't be the same card. They would have to rename it, and then, just like before DP cards, nobody would be using them anyways due to that handicap. A GOOD PERCENTAGE of tier 1 decks use Lv. X's with DRE/Scramble this format.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Regardless, you only need like 2, at the most 3 Lv. X's to run a good deck. Just look at Tom Roos's deck, it had 14 Ex's and a Star in it. Near all of the Winning decks had 6-10 Ex's in them. It was more expensive. Same here, we have alot of good non-Lv. X decks these days, if not more.
