You know what? You are right.

Hold on. I will be back on in a few minutes.

After an entire year of very talented players and deck makers have failed to create a valid counter to GG, I am going to make one real quick.

Thank you for the great advice.......

.......

.......

Oh wait. After an entire year of very talented players and deck makers failing to create a valid counter to GG, maybe we should get it into our heads that their is no valid counter to the deck!

I willbe very, very shocked if some variant of GG did not win worlds.

Let me expand on that. I will be very, very shocked if all of the top 4 at worlds is not GG.

I will be very shocked, if out of all 3 age groups, 10 of the 12 final decks are not GG.

Well, at least you were nice about it.:rolleyes:

I don't see how people arn't used to this yet. It's the same every year. Our format sucks, deal with it. Get used to it. It's gonna suck, basically always. Gardy's not a problem over in japan because stuff like Here Comes Team Rocket ruins Gallade. Our format is stupid, with everyone being basically forced to copy whatever the most popular deck is. It leaves no room for creativity or individuality. Reasons like this are why i'm not a competitive player. Sure, I try and make a good deck and try and win local tourneys, but I could care less about being at the top. With our format, being a champion means you need to copy someone else's deck and hope yours does the best.

It's pathetic and it's been that way for years now, so there's not much room for complaining. I can assure you that POP doesn't care and isn't listening. As long as you're buying cards, they don't care. Money talks.:nonono:

Play for fun, don't play to win. That's how I play.

I honestly don't play Pokemon anymore, not with crap like this. Granted, I work weekends, but after seeing this format, I really lost almost all respect for PUI.

I do not think Gardevoir deserves to be played at worlds. Seeing all these people quitting, it's just really ridiculous. Then if formats go on like this, Pokemon will turn out to be like Duel Masters, meaning POP will have no more players someday. Even I'm thinking I am giving in, something like this is even not kid friendly.

What? I'm sorry, but nothing you're saying here makes any sense. Since when does the Modified format suck every year? It most definitely doesn't. The format at last year's World was good, and two years ago it was (IMHO) VERY good. This year has by almost everyone's definition been an exception. The pure evil that is Gardevoir and Gallade have made this exceptional situation possible.

And why would you blame PUI for this? I'm sure they love diversity and a fun playing environment just as much as their costumers do, and I think they have proven several times that they most definitely don't hate their costumers. :nonono:

Without AMU or other GG counters like Japan has, I wonder what they'll be playing for Worlds...

Given what won most foreign nats, and what did best at US nats, I wonder what most non-Japanese players will use...

I wonder what kinds of decks will be ran at worlds...

I wonder if a month is enough time to break the format between nats and worlds and have a deck that can beat GG and empoleon, leafeon, etc...

WEll guys, Worlds is in a couple of weeks and it doesn't look like GG will be banned.

*Flashes forward four months into the future*

~~~WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP DECK: MARY ARKOOSH (39th place, Juniors Division)~~~
-While little Mary Arkoosh's Weaville/Beedrill deck unfortunately did not make the top cut, she still had her deck printed because the top 38 of every age group was Garde/Gallade!
...=P
Actually Banette can win worlds again, just need the perfect hands every match. I'm going for Banette, Let it save the format.
And the fact that you would need to play 5/7 matches in swiss against GG and then get luck enough to play it in T32/T16/T8/T4/T2. If you play against almost anything else that resembles an Arch your going to have issues. I was considering Banette or a variantion to my list at states, but I couldn't bring myself to take that high of a risk. I feel that Worlds IS the event to do that in, because the reward is high, but that is a bit too mcuh of a risk, IMO.
On a side note, I was doing the math and the most ridiculous thing is if we have a T32 in all age groups and 128 players exactly, 3 4-3's in each age group will manage to make it in top cut. If my breakdown is correct.
***Note before reading this post, After being banned from Gym for 2 weeks I do not have the time or the intrest to read all other 400ish posts of this thread, I just: read the first post of this thread, skimed the first few pages, using what I heard in talking about this with other players, and my own expereances to formulate and state My Own Opinion***
Banning a card just seems silly to me, last time I checked this isnt Yu-Gi-Oh. Think about this it is now almost 2 and a half weeks till worlds. Think about all the time and dedication players may of put into a Gardy deck with the intention of playing it for worlds, banning it now would put them at a major disadvange. I should know about this, it happen to me when they banned Worm Sandy from the Prof cup a week and a half before the event. I had a Worm Deck made for months with the intention of playing it in the cup, I understand the reason for the banned and do admit I was pritty sour about it (Going 5-3 and geting 2 Chomps out of my packs and getting the sexy playmat made up for that) but I know if they kept Worm I could of done better. If they would of gave more notice of banning Worm I know I could of came up with a better deck and could of done better. Also banning Gardy too close to worlds could effect players who have come up with something that can have a pritty solid shot at beating Gardy in antaipitation of playing vs GG/Plox at worlds. Also how about some who may of wanted to play a 1-0-1 Gardy in their deck has a tech for any match up for use of supporters, now they are disadvanged by this also? Basicly what I am trying to say here, it is too close to Worlds to ban a card, it will put some players at a disadvange.
I hear the term Gardy is “broken”… implying it can’t be beat… didn’t the auther of this thread mention something about Pooka winning some Lafonte Open with Emp. and beating GG/Plox decks to win it… guess what, sounds like Gardy is beatable.
Also something that gets on my nerves… I hear thinks like “2nd/4th at Nats want in banned” “15-20 worlds players want it banned” “He/She/This Team/That Website want it banned”. What is getting me a little ticked is who cares? Those people only repusent how much of the Pokemon Playing community worldwide through out all the age groups? Less then 1%? Don’t get me wrong they are allowed to have their own opinions just like I am stating mine now but it is what it is sounding like in the oringal post and in things I hear and read else where what is getting me ticked, It is sounding like they/their group of friends should get what they want because of how they placed at a tounament or winning an invite or who they are. Again not bashing anyone, just stating how I am inteprting things I hear and read.
I have nothing more to say but I leave you with this quote..
“If you can’t beat them join them” –Some Guy (IDK who said it, it sounded approiate to say in this point in time)
-TFLLM
PS- Has anyone ever consitered playing 1-1 Drifblim DP to couter Gardy SW using your Supporters which is part of the “Gardy takes too much time” factor? :biggrin:
Every year, Everyone's always playing the same decks. That's why it sucks. Every year, there's the one or two super popular decks that everyone complains about. It's the same every year. I blame PUI because they rotate sets out too soon and too often in order to force us to buy more cards each season. We don't get japan's wide-open format and we're forced to suffer because of it.
Anthony: First use spell check. Next, GG is soooo beatable, yet it just keeps WINNING and it keeps winning EVERYTHING. Give me a break people. Driftloom is the next rogue idea after Meganium d/Mismagius, Clefable, all these things I and many others have tried and failed. Can Empoleon/Bronzong beat it? Yeah, in like a 45+ minute game.
There's also a lot more than 15-20 people that would be happy if we didn't have Gardy around. There wouldn't be nearly 400 posts on this topic if there were "a few" people that don't like it.
Obviously i never think anything I say will actually happen on a message board. It was a suggestion. I stated a bunch of legitimate reasons why the deck is bad for the format and has been all season. The biggest is time, which could and probably should have been fixed a long time ago.
This isn't a thread where a bunch of unqualified players should brag about how their rogue beats GG. If it's so freaking good, then why aren't all of you playing in Worlds? And keep in mind this is coming from one of the very few players who actually earned his invite without GG.
I completely disagree
This is only my third season, so I can only compare this season to the last two.
Two seasons ago, it was awesome!
Decks like Machamp, Arcanine, Jynxfett, Medicham, RockLock, Dragtrode...We could list so many decks...
Last season wasn't quite as good, but by the end of the year(nats/worlds), the format was great. There were atleast 5 decks that had a very legitimate chance of winning worlds.
This year is not like the last two. There is gg, and that is it. Someone might sneak in with an empoleon or leafeon, but it does not change the fact that they will have to go through SO MANY GG's to get there.
Since I am playing in worlds, I have a feeling this will be my tourny report
R1. gg
R2. gg
R3. gg
R4. G-PLOX!!!!
R5. gg
R6.leafeon
R7. gg
I can't wait!!!! I love being psychic locked in practically every game during a tournament!!!!!
Kettler already won this thread, btw
I agree with this. While, I did play GG for cities and 1 states, I won States, T16 Regionals, won 2 Battle Roads, T2'd 2 more Battle Roads, and T64 Nationals all without GG. I don't want to play a deck that IMHO just isn't fun. Empoleon, Banette, Leafy/Mag are my idea of fun, not GG. The fact was I didn't want to go to tournaments and play Mirror all day. It should of fixed after Cities or States. It isn't going to be fixed because, well frankly it is too late to make that big of a change. I wish it was but it isn't. 45 minute time limits at Worlds would SERIOUSLY help this issue be resolve a bit.
banning gardevoir is a smart idea but what about torterra huh. dont run around thinking hes not a powerhouse.but im sick of gardevoir and thinks its the easy way out. i respect you guys but i dont think an totally open format is not right.
what if a kid who just joined yesterdaywanted to play this game but everybody is sitting around with there lbs decks and there charizard ex decks. well anyways you should let go of the past and think about the future torterra.
JK, I think it will be more like this:
R1 GG
R2 PLOX <-- cuz they are so different
R3 Rogue <--- Who plays that stuff at World's *scratches Head*
R4 GardeLade <--- Cuz they dont like the names GG or PLOX
R5 Eeveelutions or EmpoZong
R6 AbsoLade <---- Cuz Absol is the beast *Smiles and walks away*
R7 G-PLOX <---- cuz I already used the other names
The beauty and sadness of this is that you can prepare for Garde Decks and find ways to irritate them. MIght not always win, but can make their day horrible for 30 minutes.
Kettler FTW on this thread! Too Much!
