I wonder if the gym will let me use the clap smiley lots

Congrats on your stunning record of wins.

This is GREAT!

10 Medals is an unbelievable accomplishment!

I look forward to meeting this young man at Nationals...

He definitely will qualify as a "War Piglet" in my eyes!!!

Good luck in the States Season!!!

What is his rank in the World? #1. Is he the #1 rated player in the World right now? Yes. Does that allow someone to call him the "Best in the World" right now? I think it does.

It is not necessary to put any negatives towards this accomplishment, which this young man should be proud of.

Congrats to the young lad!

But I do agree calling him the best in the world is a little off. I'm not having a go at you but the top- ranked Junior IMHO is great. But too many wee ones playing me brother's deck or playing a random card deck for that braggadacio. Best in world builds his own deck and doesn't play against random card decks.

Cheers

Josh's current rating is 1839.18, making him the highest rated Junior in the world by over 7 points, and 4th amongst all players behind 2 players from the Netherlands and one from Norway. And I'm pretty certain that there have already been European States (several of them).

...so what? He isn't competing against the masters. Also if the rating system placed him #1 in the world then he can be justifiably proud and I hope he has a print out of the rankings.

So lets see, a player has the highest rating in the world and we call that player the 11th best or 20th or just what? #1 is #1 no matter how you cut it.

Once again...I love the jealousy that is being brought out in this thread!

We have a young man here who has gotten some great publicity for himself and the game, and a lot of you older players are taking backhanded pot-shots at the accomplishment?

What is this syndrome of not simply giving congratulations, or glad handing someone who has been recognized?

Do you feel that it pushes you up if you push someone else down?

It is an unbelievably rare feat ever to be the best in the country, or the best in the World at anything...even for a short time.

That is about as rude as someone announcing "I just won the xxx National" and your first response was "big deal, it's only xxx, not the US (or whatever)"

This is why I love the Juniors so much...they enjoy the accomplishment for what it is.

Oh, and PM me responses to this. I do not want to waste any more of this great thread on this part of it!

I've seen him play. Many times. He's as good as they come, and I'd put him in any lineup of Seniors or Masters as one of the best in the game.

Yeah but with who's deck? Mate, I've never seen a Junior who could build their own deck that was competitive. I've seen this lad play and he's good but is he building his own deck? Me thinks not.

Cheers

Plenty of players in Masters and Seniors don't build their own deck by themselves either.

Impressive, especially when considering the physical issues he probably has to deal with.

Quite a few people can claim the "#1 in the world" title, but it doesnt detract from Joshua's accomplishment.

Related note: When Tristan Robinson comes to my league, I have kids ask me "If I beat the World Champion, then I become the World Champion, right?!"

too much yugioh =/

First-Amazing achievement !~

And regarding the quote, a lot of people on the internet like to bring down people all the time I have had my fair share of these people...

But again, nice to see some younger players getting some notice for a change!

Folks, this is not a discussion as to who is and is not the best in the world.

This is a discussion regarding a well written article about a player, who at this current time, is playing very well.

Please stay on topic.

Thanks.
