Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Glisctomb Counter

Or Gliscor could just Night Slash the Luxray for an OHKO. I don't know about other people, but I always drop an Energy onto every Gliscor as soon as I evolve it, just in case of an impromptu Night Slash. If we're going to play theorymon, then I could also say that Gliscor might drop a Warp Point/Double PokeBlower on the Garchomp C, to force up something that isn't about to LV. Up (Which, incidentally also works against Roserade C). Then, there's the fact that you'll either waste the Energy the Energy attached to Roserade C retreating or waste 3 Energy (No Energy Gain, remember?) trying to attack.

i am currently running glistomb, but in my final CC match i was forced to play a mirror match and during this i figured out how to beat it. what you need to do is just send up a pokemon that can evolve/level up. for example, youre active flygon gets shoot poisoned then burning poisoned, simply level up to flygon lv x, use sand wall to discard the BTS, and protect youreself, and mill away at there deck. It works with most lv xs assuming you have the energy to do 60 to spiritomb, or you can level up retreat and find something to snipe the bench.

^ Yeah, you're right. We could theorymon this to death. I'll just go with the fact that my SP deck has done just fine against GlisTomb (or whatever) and I'll leave it at that. Good luck at cities!

Is there a good counter for Glistomb? Besides Gyarados. Because in my area the top cut for seniors were both Glistomb. Thanks.

Sorry to burst your bubble here, but Gyarados dies to Spiritomb.

Glisctomb is beaten by a good player, or a Palkia Lock deck.

While this would prevent the lock for a [potentially crucial] turn, it is thwarted by Pokeblower, which many Gliscor decks run. They'll use it to bring up something like Claydol that can't evolve or level up, and then begin locking.

Meganium45 just echoed what I said in an earlier post-- the lock can be effective, but it isn't something I would depend on to win games, especially in this SP-driven format. Night Slash, with a switch to Mr. Mime or Spiritomb, is a great aggressive option, especially with Expert Belt and SSU (to reuse Shoot Poison without going through Burning Poison first) factored in. You'll be OHKOing Luxray GLs, locking Gyarados and Beedrill while taking prizes, guaranteeing KOs (Shoot Poison, Night Slash to Spiritomb to preserve the paralysis like you would if you were locking, then follow up next turn with the second, KOing Night Slash), and forcing the opponent to either get by without trainers or attach extra energy to their Pokemon, putting them behind in energy drops.

Dawn Stadium is nice, but they can still Blow up your Claydo/Uxie/other non-Grass/Water Pokemon to lock.

There's a huge difference in Night Slash builds and a straight up Locking build. A Locking build seems to need an entire deck dedicated to it, so using Night Slash aggressively in some games is very risky. It works, but the build itself isn't so Night Slashing is a viable strategy. I'm not glorifying either build, I'm just saying they're different decks with different match-ups.

If you play this deck yourself (preferably in a mirror-match), you can see so many more outs for yourself while playtesting. Just playing this in a mirror match myself I usually keep my entire bench unevolved (Excluding Gliscor, since it can Level Up) and wait for my opponent. They can lock my Spiritomb but that's pretty much it. There's nothing to Blower up or to trap. After Spiritomb dies you'll likely lose another prize (They can OHKO most things on the field, besides Gliscor... but they still have Blowers for Baltoy/etc), but 2 prizes is very easy to come back from. This only works if they're not in on that strategy, unless you draw great. But if you can perform the lock without Claydol out... go for it. Otherwise Pester for 40 can usually KO a Spiritomb.

Some decks can play like this, too. Play without Claydol or anything else fully evolved/unevolvable on your bench. This is almost the only way a deck without answers to Gliscor can play. Otherwise 2+ Warp Energies or an SP deck playing Power Sprays or anything playing Dialga G has a good chance.

Thats very vague. If you want to critisize others, have a good explanation why their build is inferior or how this varient works in more detail.

I'll put my 2 cents worth anytime I please. Don't tell me how to comment.

I have HJd events for 3 weeks that have been crawling with several Glisc/tombs and counters, and probably have played with/against or seen this deck more than anyone except Shen himself.

The simple path is not always the right one with this deck for all matchups. Do I have to spell out for you EXACTLY what the 2 energy attack for Gliscor does? Or how an Expert Belt attached gives the Pokemon some really interesting outs, especially against Gengar builds, or how using Pokeblower really helps agains the Dialga G Level Xs that are out there?

I doubt that Drew was playing a straight lock style when he won his event with glisc/tomb, but he can comment on that himself.

Read the reports, build the deck and playtest it.

The deck will DEVASTATE you if you are not ready for it. If a Glisctomb player hits someone who is ready, they had better have a plan B to win.

Calm down. I have no problem with arguing with points that people have made, and the debate that comes with it but I find it quite incredible that you can accuse someone of running a bad list without any proper explanation about why that is. Shen said that he used Baby Mario's style and he won a City - maybe it is inferior but not 'bad'.

Glistomb is a complex strategy to understand, let alone understading the concepts of time to new players using these forums. Baby Mario's post was one of the most helpful on this thread ( and valid ), so if you want to debate a point then explain your argument. Your point I highlighted is vague, show that to a new player and they won't know what you mean. Explain all of that, yes. Theres about 1000 cards in this format, it takes a long time for people to learn what all the important ones do. You don't have to explain it to me, but to everyone confused now because they don't know how a 'good' Glistomb works.

so from reading most of this i gathered:

glistomb is a lock deck. that uses night slash if need be.
with the many counters to this deck, it seems that the deck itself has outs to the counter.

however sp still has a major advantage over the deck regardless of what the deck is running as the main strategy gets shut down with powerspray. another thing that sp has is dialgag/ dgx with deafen and locking bodies it tells spiritomb to go home and cry. leaving you unable to blower it out of the active position and if you do retreat spiritomb and lock it, then can easily poketurn/switch/warppoint it out of position due to spiritomb not working which in this case kills glistomb completly without being able to lock trainers and consistently getting shutdown with spray.

so the real counter to this deck is dialga g/x. so if you tech this into your deck you can potentiall help yourself or hurt yourself depending.

The ultimate problem with Dialga Gx is getting it out in the first place, unless your deck focuses around this strategy.

Hard to level up a Dialga G on your bench, if you can't use Level Max.

Once again, it turns into a speed and recognition game.

This deck is near impossible to play anymore in my area... so many decks are running multiple copies of Warp Energies and Beedrills and Gyarados' are running Dawn Stadiums. You see these people at the bottom tables because they sacrificed consistency to counter this deck (I saw a Genger with 4 Warp Energies... lol).

This is easily the most teched against deck in the area. Fortunately for the winners, their decks already counter this. SP is absolutely dominating, mainly Dialga G tank (Which already plays Warp Energies for Garchomp C plays) which brutally counters this deck.

If you expect Gliscor and play something to beat it, play something that wins other match-ups, too.

1-1 Palkia lv.x is nice, expecially in flygon, you may always get the spiritomb away and bring out gliscors.

Onapoleon you have no idea what dos can do to that deck lol think outside of being scared by tomb lol there is way to many counters in dos haha
Comparing dos to that deck dos should win 80 to 90 % of the time if you know how to play right of course lol
Anyways some counters that are actually consistent and fast is
Regice la it auto tomb out of the active spot and there forced to send somethin else up lol
Warp energy I can not stres how much the helps in any matchup against glisctomb lol
Unown g for certain reasons but this doesn't prevent glisc at much but can slow it down
And stage 1 pokes with good damge or basics that have a stage 2 evo as long as you keep evo and doing damage you should be fine
And then this isn't a card counter but just something you should know is if you come across someone that doesn't know how to count damage in advance so the know that your poke will be koed at the end of there turn and they have it koed at the end of there turn that also kills them lol

Eh, I am not going to say one way or another. I will say I have been writing reports and as soon as Cities are over or after the last event I plan on going to, I will post them in one thread. Other than that, I am going to stay quiet about what version I played.

Use md chatot's chatter.

First off, there is already a thread on this, and second any player who is decent will see this coming a MILE away. If you get caught by Chatot, you either didn't think they played it (in a SP deck) or you are a bad player IMO because you should of realized what was going on.
