The PERFECT Gyarados counter for SP decks!!!

So, for a long time now, my friends and I have strived to find a Gyarados counter for SP's. I finally discovered it! 1 Miasma Valley + 1 Skarmory FB!!! It works even better for Dialga players, since we already run :metal: Energy. If you get both into play, whenever a Magikarp comes into play, it is automatically KO'd! They can NEVER get Gyarados out!

If you are going to make suggestions, these are for people who do NOT run Luxray GL Lv.X!!!

They play so many bts's, and skarmory is such a horrible attacker, that it is not worth it, if they get one up, or play luxray, your dead.

Nice try, but your opponen't can still play BTS to remove the Miama's Valley in play, leaving the Karps with 10 HP left. However, if you play Metagross SV/Skarmory FB/Miasmas Valley, that would be a nasty combo against decks with basic Pokemon that have low HP like Hopips and Magikarps.

I've always found that Lucario + Trash Bolting with Luxray is a good way to defeat Gyarados if you want a counter, but typically I think you should snipe their support before anything else. Knocking out an early Sableye can mean the game, imo.

Some of us aren't fortunate enough to have a LuxrayGL Lv.X.

That's an EXCELLENT point!

Suggestion #2:

If this is the case, you can tech in a Lightening Arceus and 2 Mr Mimes.

Simply hit and promote the Mr. Mime.

They'd HAVE to have Pokemon Reversal to get out of that lock.
(even if they had a tech Luxray LvX, they'd have to bright look ALOT to win vs. this)

This would be nice vs. Jumpluff, Gyrardos, and Shuppet

Make them use all their Felicity's to set up.
Get rid of BTS.
Shuffle their hand in.
KO the Gyarados.

OR
Play a deck that KO's 60-80 HP guys on the first or second turn.
Go up in prizes before Gdos gets out.
Be able to trade prizes back and forth for the rest of the game.

There's no such thing as a "counter" card or combo to Gyarados, or any deck for that matter. Just learn how Gdos works, then adapt your strategy to "counter" it.

If you dont have Luxrays play something else? Why would you play a Gengar deck without Gengars, either you get the gengars or you better move on :/
