Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Worlds 2011 - San Diego, CA USA

Psyduck - I'm sure you love it in Kansas or wherever you're from, but that is Cali -- plain and simple.

PkB - Well, everyone is complaining about weather, and half of what I said is related to weather so....I'm pretty sure it is keeping on topic. THANKS.

And there's nothing to worry about in California like earthquakes or mudslides? I didn't mind it not being in Florida, it's just annoying seeing it in California for 4 times now (especially when it was there last year).

A mudslide in San Diego? hahahahaha

There's a reason it's been over here so much...west side is the best side AWWWW YEAHHHHH

'I'm going going, back back, to Cali Cali'

Thanks for thinking of the average players POP, or whatever initials it is these days.

My thoughts too.

From googling holiday accomodation in SD it seems to be more expensive than Florida, so it's not just the extra cost of the flights for some people.

East Coast would have been alot cheaper for us Europeans flying out too.

well, I guess this means I wont have to travel much to help my kids earn an invite, like I did the last time it was in Orlando. Less events and no need to buy to many cards.

That's a pretty good point. If a large number of eastern players know they can't afford to go to Worlds (whether in Hawaii or California), and they know it's either win Nationals or bust, attendance will go down.

Beacuse either way people from other countries HAVE to travel no matter what. They have accepted this but americans want it closer to them.

Another good point, but a point that will fall on deaf ears as this is an american-dominated forum.

While I couldn't be happier that I will definately be able to go to worlds given this is likely my last year of playing Pokemon and I've wanted to go for the past 4 years, it does sadden me to think people who share that dream on the east coast are getting such neglect. Though I honestly can't complain with CA as a host state, it makes sense. Hawaii on the other hand, i would GLADLY see taken off the rotation roster. I would rather see it go to Europe than Hawaii, at least have it be a cheap commute for some people. Unless you actually live in Hawaii, the airfare, hotel and food expenses are rediculous, even for someone like me on the West Coast. i can't even imagine the cost for players in Germany/Italy/France/etc.

Honestly, I'd love an out of country Worlds. i think it'd be a great vacation experience for American players, and if they announced it was in say, Paris, a year in advance, I'm sure any family out of state that could afford to go to Hawaii would find a way to make it a family oreiented trip and probably have a better experience. And getting a paid trip would REALLY mean something then :D

California:
Better weather
Better girls
Better beaches
Better surrounding cities
No hurricanes
No humidity (or very mild humidity)
No floods
No tornadoes
No summer rains
Closer to Japan

I <3 California

Closer to Mexiko, closer to Swineflu, eh ? xD

Can someone explain why San Diego, CA was added to the topic title when no one has posted a link to a reliable source confirming the location? Until someone can produce a legitimate source, the location remains unconfirmed.

The location and date is confirmed. It was published in the Welcome kits provided by TPCi. That's as the confirmation gets for now. It will be posted on the Worlds Site later this weekend.

If the location is indeed San Diego again, the Pacific theater should be very lucky they got it again this year as it was a secondary option. Florida was definitely the primary choice.

San Diego, POP/TCPi, SDPokeMom/Doreen, last year were great World's hosts. I am looking forward to attending with Charlie again next year. I would love to work with some locals on providing delicious, freshly made, meals for staff, or put together a big staff barbeque (low and slow, offset vs. hot direct grilling). I am asked to guest chef regularly at California wine events and can check my knives if flying. Cook or not, staff, volunteer, or play, I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible next year in San Diego. Cheers!

So your own country has hosted a Worldwide event which people from all over the world have to travel to for the last 7 years, and you complain because it's not on the right side of your country? I can't believe that it seems that more people are complaining from the country where it's going to held in, then others who are preparing to travel thousands of miles to it. I never understand this

Europe has how many players compared to NA?

I know you could respond, Japan might have more players than NA, but also consider the cost of shipping, I think Hawaii is cheaper than Japan, and SD obviously so.

PokeDad - you can cook for me any day :thumb: I will be sure to find you next year

Ulti - In a perfect world, an an ordinarily warm one, I am able to make blackberry pies this time of year from fresh handpicked berries. Together with handmade vanilla ice cream, there is no better food experience - only other equally perfect ones. This year has been too cool all year, and berries are a month behind reaching full ripeness. Reming me next year. Cheers.

I'm drooling over here. Thanks a lot!

Looks like there's a lot of discussion with my boyfriend to see if we're gonna be able to afford this one next year. We were hoping for Orlando as the rotation pointed there, and it would have been cheaper. But I surely know I'd love to be able to spend a week in Cali.

Well, seeing how Nationals is pretty much at your doorstep - you should try your hardest to make it to worlds next year.

Nah, Columbus was at my doorstep. A two hour drive was nice. :thumb: Though I really loved Indy this year for Nats. I love everything about that city.

Financially though, I'm working on getting moved out of my house and on my own, so I have to be careful with where my spending is. We're hoping that if we make the plans now, saving up for it will be a heck of a lot easier.
